Gessner Engineering is looking to welcome a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Project Manager to our dynamic team. The Senior Structural Project Manager is expected to translate an understanding of architecture and construction into structural design while leading a team of engineers and fostering business relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and perform detailed reviews of structural designs and deliverables for compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices and coordination with various disciplines
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of structural designs.
- Seal and approve an array of structural engineering projects from high-profile to specialty.
- Support project success through construction administration
- Maintain a collaborative stance and advocate for the Client
- Work to find solutions with the shared goal being the overall success of the project
- Work closely with architects to understand and incorporate architectural intent into structural designs.
- Assess and communicate the structural impact of architectural decisions, providing solutions that maintain the project's integrity and vision.
- Understand construction considerations and coordinate with contractors, when applicable, to produce an efficient and rational design.
- Maintain a holistic project view for collaboration with all disciplines.
- Lead and mentor a team of structural engineers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Delegate tasks, provide guidance, and support the professional development of team members.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met.
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to the growth and success of the company.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis, or a related field. Master's in Structural Engineering and/or collaborative degree preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of six years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on high-level project review and sealing.
- Experience in the design and detailing of various construction materials, including steel, cold formed metal framing, conventional and post-tensioned concrete, concrete masonry, and conventional and engineered wood
- Experience in the design and analysis of building structures
- Experience in residential, commercial, higher education (institutional), and vertical public infrastructure projects
- Experience in the development of comprehensive construction documents
- Experience in being the primary structural collaborator with architects, contractors, and the design team.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, RAM Structural System, Tekla Structures, or RISA experience is a plus)
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers.
