Job Description

As an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) engineer you will apply your unique skills and insights as part of project teams that span the South Central Region and across the United States. Your I&C skills will support designs for complex wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants, pump stations, and conveyance systems.

You will engage in Hazen's collaborative approach to deliver and meet our clients' needs by:
  • Preparing Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system network diagrams, control panel wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and installation details.
  • Coordinating with the other disciplines (process/mechanical, structural, architectural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and site civil).
  • Performing quality reviews of BIM models, Revit families, and CAD based files used in the production of contract documents.
  • Inspect, test, and approve of I&C work provided by contractors at water and wastewater facilities.

Qualifications and Skills

Required
  • Expert level proficiency in I&C design
  • Must know how to use AutoCAD, or AutoCAD Plant 3D, or be willing to learn.
  • Strong knowledge of bid documents including I&C plans, technical specs and cost estimating
  • Experience working on and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams,
  • Task focused and willing to learn,
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have a PE license, or ability to obtain within one year of employment.

Preferred
  • Multiple years of experience performing I&C design for public sector water/wastewater clients,
  • Demonstrated understanding of processes and equipment for various water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and conveyance systems,
  • PLC/HMI configuration/programming experience
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers, designers, and other staff,
  • Experience communicating and coordinating with clients.

Education

Required
  • BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited university

Preferred
  • MS in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on instrumentation and controls from an ABET accredited university.
