Technical Landscape:

• Functional first programming using Scala and the JVM on the backend
• Event driven architecture leveraging high throughput, real-time stream processing tools including Kafka, Hadoop, Elastic Search, and Samza; with a micro services approach to application composition
• Multi-environment deployment, from client laptops to the cloud, using Docker containers
• Cross-platform mobile development
• Functional reactive programming using JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS on the frontend

Required Skills:

• 8+ years relevant work experience
• Experience with 4+ programming languages
• Strong analytical ability
• Focused attention to detail
• Experience working in a team environment, preferably an agile/scrum team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Understand how our applications operate, are structured, and how customers use them
• Troubleshoot and solve code level problems quickly and efficiently
• Design and implement specified solutions to complex software engineering tasks
• Facilitate the decomposition of business requirements into Use Cases and Acceptance Criteria
• Perform risk analysis on each work item completed by a SCRUM Team
• Participate in Deployment activities
• Work with little or no supervision
• Mentor and supervise software and associate engineers
