The Manager of Bereavement and Community Grief is responsible for the day-to-day operations and delivery of bereavement and community grief services, including but not limited to: coordination and supervision of bereavement and community grief counselors and bereavement program in support of patient family members, and development and management of grief programs to support the needs of our community.

The Manager of Bereavement and Community Grief is responsible for the day-to-day operations and delivery of bereavement and community grief services, including but not limited to: coordination and supervision of bereavement and community grief counselors and bereavement program in support of patient family members, and development and management of grief programs to support the needs of our community.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages the development and delivery of all bereavement and community service programs to effectively address the grief needs of patient family and community members
- Monitors, tracks and ensures compliance with Standards and Regulations (e.g. CHAPs, CoPS, NASW, Florida Administrative Code) through chart audits, as well as review and monitoring of documentation.
- Assists in the development of systems/tools to evaluate and monitor the quality of bereavement and community grief services; participates in QI activities and incorporates findings into team activities, as needed.
- Oversees the development and revisions of bereavement and community grief policy and procedures.
- Evaluates skills, including clinical, and provides constructive feedback, coaching and counseling to all Bereavement and Community Grief staff; prepares and conducts performance appraisals
- Provides specialized training and precept bereavement outreach volunteers.
- Ensures relay of all high risk, complex or potential abuse/neglect related to Community Hospice patients/families to appropriate staff.
- Provides clinical supervision to license eligible staff, as requested.
- Assists the Community Hospice Foundation in identifying and pursuing funding for community programs and services.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with other social service departments and health care providers.
- Supports professional growth of team members through academic and continuing education programs, as appropriate.
- Functions as a bereavement counselor for designated IDG teams.
- Oversees participation of Bereavement and Community Grief department in orientation of new staff
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education/Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide required skills and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work.
- Minimum five (5) years clinical practice/direct service experience with individuals and families in health care.
- Minimum two (2) years supervisory and program management experience.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Florida LCSW required.
- State certification as a "Qualified Supervisor" for Chapter 491 preferred.
- Current State of Florida driver's license with driving record acceptable to Community Hospice.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Principles, practices and methods of social work
- Grief and loss and overall bereavement care provision that includes needs assessment, case management, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, advocacy,
- Interpersonal communication and family dynamics and administration.
- Planning, prioritizing, coordinating, directing varied and complex administrative functions.
- Effective communication and professional presentation, both verbally and in writing.
- Working with multi-disciplinary team.
