Purpose: We are currently seeking an Anesthesiology Practice Administrator to oversee the development and management of the anesthesiology practice(s) assigned. The experienced healthcare administrator will join our growing team of experienced healthcare leaders providing transitional support with operational, organizational, and strategic initiatives for overall sustainable positive change.

Primary Goal: The primary objective of this role is to drive exceptional and efficient patient care by spearheading the transformation of the Anesthesiology Departments and Perioperative Services within our client facilities. As the Interim Anesthesiology Practice Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing various aspects, including managing anesthesiology practice operations, personnel management, provider scheduling, recruitment, anesthesiology budgeting, developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and protocols, and implementing tailored strategies to overcome challenges and ensure sustainable, positive transformations.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
  • Oversee interim assignments ranging from 6 to 12 months in duration
  • Maintain on-site presence for a total of forty (40) hours per week, with the flexibility to adjust the work schedule at the discretion of the Client. Additional offsite/virtual coverage may be required
  • Foster collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary teams within and outside of the medical group
  • Consult and collaborate with hospital leadership to ensure effective integration of strategic objectives, performance management, quality improvement, and technical performance
  • Act as an integral member of the management team, addressing and resolving broad management/administrative issues such as operational monitoring, staffing, planning for future programs and services, procedure coding, revenue capture, cost monitoring and control, workflows, regulatory compliance, and service timeliness and quality
  • Provide senior oversight and business management support for all practice management-related matters impacting the service line, including strategy, contractual relationships, new service feasibility, response to Requests for Proposals, new site start-ups, strategic partnerships, and staffing analyses
  • Work closely with hospital administration to plan, organize, and direct anesthesiology services operations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Review internal and external business operations, market conditions, health plan activity, reimbursement models, information transfer, and other key operational indicators
  • Coordinate strategic planning, practice governance, business development activities, financial management, and policy enforcement
  • Align Anesthesiology contracts and schedules with the needs of the Hospital Medical Center
  • Provide insight into staffing optimization for the Anesthesiology department
  • Identify, select, recruit, and implement new clinical personnel, as needed
  • Coordinate with the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) department to ensure timely transfer of clinical and financial information
  • Lead projects supporting system initiatives such as Electronic Medical Record (EMR) implementation, Revenue Cycle improvements, Clinical Documentation enhancements, etc.
  • Foster a culture of quality and service in the delivery of anesthesiology services
  • Develop and maintain positive and responsive relationships with surgical facilities and surgical personnel
  • Assist in budget development, analysis, and maintenance for anesthesiology operations
  • Generate monthly (or as required) development reports for key decision-makers in the anesthesiology practice and surgical facility
  • Negotiate and credential third-party/managed care insurance contracts as requested by management
  • Establish regular meetings with Hospital Medical Center administration to address practice performance matters, including billing and collection, salary specifics, clinician financial incentives, analysis of existing programs, and development of new programs
  • Proactively manage locums and overtime costs through effective planning and resource utilization.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field
  • Extensive experience in healthcare management, particularly in perioperative services and anesthesiology departments
  • Previous experience in a practice management or operational management role within a healthcare setting

Knowledge and Skills
  • In-depth understanding of perioperative services and anesthesiology practices, protocols, and regulations
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation within a healthcare context
  • Knowledge of RCM and Anesthesiology billing processes
  • Familiarity with common Anesthesiology staffing models and best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including clinicians, administration, and external partners
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex operational challenges in Anesthesiology departments
