Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide management to Special Inspections Department and complete various testing and inspections on new and on-going projects to verify compliance with building codes and standards
Responsibilities include:
- Performs routine field tests or inspections
- Complete structural concrete and reinforcing code and job specification compliance
- Structural masonry code and job specification compliance
- Pre-stressed and post tension concrete tendons and reinforcing code and job specification compliance
- Inspection of soil, concrete, asphalt and/or steel
- Spray applied fireproofing code and job specification compliance
- Daily communication with site contractors, other technicians and/or inspectors and project managers
- Complete accurate and detailed field testing/inspection reports and/or diagrams
- Management of field Special Inspectors
- Approving invoicing and budgeting
- Proposal creation
- Scheduling of jobs and field personnel.
Qualifications
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: 2 or 4 year degree in Civil Engineering/Civil Engineering Technology or relevant field of study
Skills:
- Ability to calculate results from construction inspections
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Ability to accurately complete field testing paperwork and detailed figures
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Professional Certifications:
- Professional Engineer License preferred
- Required: ICC Certifications: Masonry, Soils, Spray-Applied Proofing, etc.
- Preferred knowledge or certifications in radiation safety, NCDOT/SCDOT Roadway, Earthworks, and Concrete certification.
Experience
- Preferred 4 year degree and/or 4+ years of field and/or inspections experience and 2+ years of management experience
