Distribution Center Manager (Las Vegas and Indianapolis locations) Position Description
Foundation Building Materials, the industry leader in supplying building materials in the US and Canada, is seeking a mission-focused, Distribution Center Manager who can see the big picture and energize their team to do the same. You will hold a critical role in our company by being part of a dynamic, hardworking team that impacts the growth of FBM by ensuring our products move through this Distribution Center in a timely manner to meet our customer orders. Reporting to the COO initially, you will oversee process, productivity and fulfillment within our Receiving, Stocking and Picking and Shipping through our new distribution network. Supporting both our Branches and new e-commerce customers, you will cross-collaborate and work closely with other 'go-getter' team members and leaders. You will have a direct influence and ability to make a difference within the building materials community as our organization continues to grow.

The Distribution Manager - Day-to-Day:
- You will oversee operational aspects of the facility in order to manage and improve the flow of goods in and out of the Distribution Center.
- You will lead a team of both hourly associates and salaried exempt direct reports.
- You will work closely with the companies Leadership Team to establish Key Performance Metrics (KPIs) and managing your team to those metrics.
- Through analytics and data driven outcomes, you will be asked to identify areas for improvements and will be expected to bring forward cost beneficial capital improvement requests for approval. You will then have the opportunity to implement capital improvements as assigned and foster continuous improvement.
- You will implement and enforce company policy. You will be expected to suggest adaptations to senior management and Human Resources.
- You will plan and manage financial all aspects, including operating budget and expenses along with staffing levels and productivity in order to maintain a cost-effective operation.
- You will oversee, implement, and maintain compliance with company and OSHA guidelines to create and maintain a safe working environment for all associates.
- You will get to partner with Human Resources and will be a key member of FBM's Safety Program
- You will promote a strong sense of teamwork and a culture of respect by working together safely, effectively, respectfully and efficiently with all associates. Mentor, train and develop all leadership associates to encourage professional growth.
- Adopts a culture of safety as a first and utmost priority, followed by quality, and then efficiency
- Excellent time management skills; ability to adapt to consistently changing challenges and priorities
- Experience leading a team through
- Experience with High Volume Order Fulfillment and Automated Picking Systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to rapidly assess complex details
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to construct training packages and effectively deliver training
- Competent with the full Microsoft Office suite of applications as well as companies ERP platform
- The ability to implement and manage change in fast-paced, diverse environments
- Interpersonal skills that enable the candidate to effectively interact with operating and executive management along with warehouse teammates.
- The skills necessary to influence the team's direction without stifling their motivation and creativity
- Initiative and the ability to work independently with infrequent outside direction
- Ability to comfortably work with and communicate to all organizational levels (CEO to warehouse workers) and build strong relationships
- Recognizes the importance of, and performs responsibilities in accordance with FBM's "Customer First" business philosophy
- Displays service-oriented behavior and is responsive to customer's requests with the appropriate level of urgency
- Establishes strategic plans, KPIs, and Goals in a collaborative and proactive manner; able to see the "big picture" and details within
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college in engineering, operations, or similar field is preferred.
- Lean Champion, Lean Green Belt, or equivalent certification would be a plus but not required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working in related fields (Distribution, Inventory Management or e-commerce).
- Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
- Capable of sitting, standing and walking for extended periods
- Able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level, and crouch on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to use proper techniques to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Normal warehouse environment - dusty, variations in temperatures (hot to cold) consistent with outdoor weather conditions.
- Must be able to work extended hours during periods of peak workload
