Our Inland Empire region is seeking an Operations Director for the Riverside, CA office.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Operations Director is second in command and responsible for managing the day-to-day operations necessary to ensure that GRID Alternatives Inland Empire achieves its objectives. The candidate will complement the Executive Director, freeing up the Executive Director to focus more on strategic, longer-term vision and external matters. The candidate must be committed to GRID Alternatives' mission of serving low-income communities while creating a successful transition to clean, renewable energy that includes everyone. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a motivated, agile, and detail-oriented leader who wants to make a substantial impact and be part of the clean energy movement.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partner closely with Executive Director and Department Leaders to chart organization's future growth and strategic goals
Translate strategic goals into specific operational objectives and oversee their implementation
Determine what resources, including people and money, are needed to achieve the objectives, fundraising with Development team and Executive Director to secure the resources
Establish, monitor, assess, and report on budgets, use of resources, and achievement of key performance indicators
Provide direction, problem solve, and intervene as needed to ensure achievement of objectives and key performance indicators
Manage the necessary operating requirements for a nonprofit solar installation company across the region, including IT, facilities, insurances, licenses, and compliance
Oversee human resources, including onboarding, professional development, and certifications
Manage finances and accounting across all Departments, including invoicing, payments, and cash flow
Develop, review, and manage grants, contracts, MOUs, project budgets, and other legal, financial, operational documents
Lead, coach, develop, and retain GRID's high-performance Department Leaders and assigned staff
Support the Executive Director with Board management
Take on external facing responsibilities, including partner and business development and representing GRID at conferences and other public venues, as needed
Advance the organization's equity, inclusion, and diversity work and understand that this can only be achieved within a framework of social, economic, and environmental justice
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience leading the operations for an organization, including program implementation, fundraising, compliance, finance/accounting, and HR
Public sector experience, as either an employee or board member; solar/construction industry experience a plus
Proven track record of exceeding goals, strategic and bottom-line orientation with successful P&L management to balance program delivery against the realities of a budget
Problem solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness
Experience effectively building organization and staff capacity, developing a top-notch workforce and the processes that ensure the organization runs smoothly
Superior leadership and management skills; ability to connect with and influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; enjoys working hard and looks for challenges
Thorough understanding of finance, systems, and HR; broad experience with the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, human resources, fundraising, and marketing
Proficient with computers, including Microsoft suite, Google suite, Salesforce or other CRM
Valid Driver's License and good driving record

Office Location/travel:
GRID Alternatives Inland Empire office is located in Riverside, CA. This position requires some travel to sites throughout the Inland Empire and occasional out-of-town travel. Availability to work nights and weekends maybe required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use, but applicant must hold a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Compensation:
This is a full-time position, compensation commensurate with experience.
