Description
A Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a professional who studies the behavior of children and adults to help address problematic behaviors.
BCBA responsibilities include:
Observing patients and assessing their behavior
Meeting with families, teachers, or doctors to discuss the patient's treatment and progress and recommend ways to address behavioral issues
Developing individual plans to correct, maintain, or improve certain behaviors
Create simulated conditions where you will observe the behavior of each client
Formulate an appropriate treatment plan that is sensitive to clients' cognitive, social, emotional, and sensory needs
Follow the Assent methodology.
Administer treatment and tailor interventions as needed
Suggest additional treatment by other professionals as required
Operate within time, financial, and other resource constraints
Remain abreast of changes in research on evidence-based practices
Advocate for the inclusion of individuals with disorders and disabilities within society

Education and Experience:
Experience working with ages 10 through young adults with developmental disabilities and/or unique learning needs

Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Assent-based applied behavior analysis
- Pro-active intervention strategies
- Recognizing Assent Withdrawal
- Understand the Principles of Reinforcement
- Developmental processes of children/adolescents
- Interpersonal skills needed to manager crisis situations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Products and other technology.
Education and Experience:
Experience working with ages 10 through young adults with developmental disabilities and/or unique learning needs
Board Certification
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting or working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Repetitive physical activity such as data entry.
