#TeamBergmann is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Civil Works practice!

What You'll Do: Design waterway structures (locks, dams, hydraulic steel structures, pump stations, gates, and/or waterfronts); prepare calculations, write specs, estimate costs, write reports, provide construction support, and conduct field investigation, condition surveys and levee inspections.

Who We're Looking For: The ideal candidate is a licensed PE or SE with 10+ years' experience on civil works projects. All candidates should understand FEM Analysis (SAP2000), MathCAD, and USACE EM, ER, and ETL.

Prior experience with the US Army Corps of Engineers is highly preferred.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:
  • Ability to work closely with others or independently as needed
  • Willing to travel for site visits or meetings as needed
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with USACE design standards and manuals
  • Experience with Dam Safety Guidelines
  • FERC Regulations experience
  • Prior Dam & Levee Inspection (PLI)
  • Cost estimating experience


More Functions of the Senior Structural Engineer:

  • Provide supervision and guidance related to overall objectives, technical issues, new concepts, and quality matters
  • Use advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices in developing design
  • Perform complex assignments requiring development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures
  • Assist in the education and development of survey staff and act as resource for survey questions
  • Participate in the interpretation, update, and/or creation of Standards of Practice
  • Perform QA/QC on drawings from drafters, designers, and/or design engineers on project
  • Coordinate with Engineer in Charge during construction phase and take responsibility for resolving issues as they arise
  • May contribute to the completion of goal setting, goal review, and professional development plans for the discipline staff
  • May serve as Bergmann contact for client, other design professionals, and contractors
  • May act as quality coordinator for discipline led projects and perform independent technical reviews
  • May serve on professional association committees for establishment of policies, standards, procedures, and research at a local, state, or national level
  • May deliver technical papers and presentations
  • May stamp/sign drawings or reports and/or serve as Engineer of Record for the project
