As an SDS-PACU RN, you provide safe, efficient, and effective patient/family focused care for patients from infancy to geriatrics, and across the peri-anesthesia continuum. The SDS-PACU RN is responsible for the pre-operative and post-operative assessment and treatment of assigned patients undergoing surgery or procedures at ECHC.

Elko Community Health Center is a brand new, state-of-the-art ASC in Elko, Nevada, with adjoining physician's offices and medical imaging. With 17 beds, Elko CHC provides a range of specialty care, including general surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, podiatry, ENT and spinal surgery in a gorgeous frontier setting, and we are excited to hire a stellar team to deliver our patients the best quality of care. Key Responsibilities:
  • Acts as an advocate for the patient before, during and after surgery.
  • Ensures all aspects of key surgery safety checks are completed prior to and after the procedure/surgery (including PACU and Phase II).
  • Assesses the knowledge of the patient or designated support person, and provides education regarding the procedure, including pre- and post-operative.
  • Actively involves the patient or designated support person in decisions affecting plan of care and rehabilitation process.
  • Performs pre-operative patient management, ensuring documents, tests, and pre-assessments are completed, facilitating communication between patient and anesthesiologist/surgeon, including full admission of patient the day of procedure.
  • Performs post-operative patient care, including patient assessments, post-operative planning, and discharge teaching.
  • Follows ASPAN, AORN and other best practice standards and guidelines for perianesthesia practice
  • Identifies and reports patient safety concerns, actual events or near misses through the safety reporting system, as well as to the OR Charge RN or CNO.
  • Maintains privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
  • Promotes and role models collegial, collaborative relationships with all members of the interprofessional team.
  • Provides age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice.

Requirements

What you bring:
  • A current, unrestricted license as an RN in the state of Nevada
  • A nursing diploma, associate's or undergraduate degree from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • A minimum of two years of ICU or Emergency nursing experience preferred
  • Two years experience in a SDS/PACU environment is preferred
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • A patient-focused, team-oriented attitude and a passion for surgical nursing
  • Your ability to remain calm and critically think/problem solve during urgent, or crisis situations.
  • Your ability to be flexible and adaptable to change.


Physical Requirements:
  • All applicants must be physically able to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position.


Minimum Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting, such as a medical-surgical unit
  • A willingness to learn
  • Proficiency in MS Office
