Job Description

The Office Manager is the face of Hazen in the local area. The successful candidate is responsible for hiring and mentoring staff, developing client relationships, securing new work, successfully delivering quality projects, and being the ambassador raising Hazen's profile in the South-Central Region and beyond. The role also includes significant internal collaboration with other Hazen offices in the region, the practice groups, discipline groups, service groups, and other regions. The Office Manager is expected to lead and grow the business while projecting workload and efficiently managing staff resources.

Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact at all levels of an organization
  • Engagement with professional societies and similar organizations by participating in meetings and conferences, and serving on committees
  • Documented experience managing multiple successful project teams delivering high quality projects while meeting schedule and budget goals
  • Documented experience in management roles in consultant and/or client organizations
  • Documented experience on water, wastewater, conveyance, and/or water resources design or planning projects
  • Experience mentoring and supporting staff
    • Experience managing staff, maintaining and projecting steady workload
    • Experience developing and maintaining strong client relationships and effective networking
    • Experience positioning, leading proposal preparation, leading interviews, winning projects, and negotiating contracts
    • Experience efficiently coordinating with peers, leadership, and staff to meet client needs
    • Experience recruiting, interviewing, and hiring excellent talent

Preferred Skills
  • Engagement in professional society leadership roles
  • Developing close, long-term relationships with clients
  • Leading pursuits that resulted in wins and project fees of $2M or more
  • Successfully hiring project managers and technical staff
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts with clients
  • Experience delivering conveyance, water and/or wastewater facility projects from preliminary design through construction

Education Required
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, construction management, or relevant science or math degree

Preferred Credentials
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Planning, or Management/Administration
  • Texas PE or licensed PE in another state with ability to obtain Texas PE within 12 months of start date.
