Description
Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Associate Director of Financial Aid
supports the daily operation of the financial aid office and supports the team of financial
aid administrators to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and
institutional policy. The Associate Director ensures that financial aid applications are
accurately evaluated, students are properly packaged, and all program requirements
are met.
Examples of Duties
The Associate Director of Financial Aid accomplishes this through:
Ensuring Financial Aid staff are fully trained in relation to regulations, and policies
Reviewing all financial aid operations for accuracy and compliance
Working with the Director of Financial Aid on daily operations and application of regulations and procedures
Management of programs within budgetary limits
Accurate and timely reporting
Recommending process changes/improvement.
Assist Director with annual reporting requirements, return of Title IV calculations and SAP Appeals; Dependency Overrides and Professional Judgments.
Manage daily operations of the Financial Aid office including supervision in the absence of the Director.
Attend meetings and participate in committees, as assigned, and attend training
necessary to stay abreast of regulations concerning financial aid.
Maintain communication with all divisions of the college, appropriate federal and state agencies, and lending institutions.
In coordination with the Finance Office, complete the monthly reconciliation of the federal Pell Grant program and federal student loan program.
Serve as the secondary Destination Point Administrator for the College.

Managing Team Performance:
The Associate Director of Financial Aid is responsible for managing the performance of the Financial Aid Administrators and staff. To accomplish this, the Associate Director of Financial Aid will:
Motivate staff and reinforce positive accomplishments
Schedule hours for staff
Monitor staff activities (phone calls, appointments, student interviews...)
Monitor student overview discussions/interviews and provide constructive feedback
Typical Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's preferred
Minimum of five years of progressive financial aid experience preferably in a private, not-for-profit setting
Minimum of three years supervisory experience
Experience with the use of Colleague or similar Financial Aid Management system preferred
Experience with integrated student service delivery systems preferred
