Position: Mental Health Therapist Salary: $75,000
YMCA Youth & Family Services is seeking a dynamic self-motivated clinician to join our mission to promote strong kids, strong families and strong communities. You will become part of a highly skilled team of professionals making a difference working with youths and families in the community to remove barriers to mental health treatment. We are hiring for multiple therapist positions, for both the Linkages to Learning and School and Community Youth Services programs and some of the positions are bilingual positions.
About the Job:
The Mental Health Therapist (MHT) is responsible for providing therapeutic intervention to individual youth, families and groups. This is a 12-month, school-based position working within Montgomery County Public Schools serving elementary, middle or high school aged youth. Our clinicians work closely with educators, guidance counselors, school social workers and community providers, as well as other YMCA staff, to provide optimal care and treatment for the youth and families. The MHT works within a team of providers to support our families.

Some of the exciting tasks you will do as a Therapist include but are not limited to:
- Completes mental health assessment of children and adults
- Offers individual, family and parent counseling
- Leads or co-lead therapy and psycho-educational groups (child and adult groups)
- Offers classroom observation
- Consults with parents, school staff, and medical providers regarding child's progress
- Writes progress reports and letters to parent
- Attends school and parent meetings (EMT/ARD/suspension, etc.)
- Offers appropriate assistance during crises
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy or counseling
- Licensed at graduate level in Maryland for: LGSW, LGPC, LGMFT, Psychologist Associate
- Knowledge of philosophies, practices, policies and outcomes of the most generally accepted scientifically supported models of treatment, recovery, prevention and continuing care for psychological, emotional, mental, addictions and/or substance abuse disorders and conditions
- Knowledge of established diagnostic criteria, treatment modalities and placement criteria within the continuum of care for psychological, emotional, mental, addictions and/or substance abuse disorders and conditions
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to handle heavy workload and multiple job related pressures
- Ability to drive from branch site to branch site and to Association Services Office
- Working at home some evenings is necessary to complete assignments
