Position Summary
The Director of the Center for the Advancement ofInterProfessional Practice (CAIPPER) is a new position, which combines anacademic administrative position with a faculty position at the University ofIllinois Chicago. CAIPPER's mission is to create transformational change inhealth professions education and health care service delivery by buildingcollaborative competence and fostering interprofessional scholarship andcollaborative practice, with focused attention to the pressing needs ofunderserved individuals and populations.
The primary responsibility of the Director is toprovide leadership to achieve CAIPPER's strategic goals through collaborativework with the seven UIC health sciences colleges (College of Applied HealthScience, College of Dentistry, College of Medicine, College of Nursing, Collegeof Pharmacy, School of Public Health, Jane Addams College of Social Work), theUniversity of Illinois Hospital & Clinics, and other clinical trainingsites. CAIPPER goals relate to interprofessional education, interprofessional collaborativepractice, faculty development, and student engagement and leadershipdevelopment.
The CAIPPER Director reports to the Assistant ViceChancellor for Interprofessional Practice and Education within the Office ofthe Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs in a faculty administrative role and toan academic unit within one of UIC's seven health science colleges in a facultyrole. This is a full-time position comprised of dual appointments within theOffice of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs and a UIC academic unit; theappointment structure will be determined at the time of hire. Candidatesmust possess academic credentials to be appointed into faculty system rankwithin one of the health science colleges. Current UIC faculty areencouraged to apply.

Duties & Responsibilities
Develop a pre-qualification curriculum that meets accreditation requirements and desired graduate outcomes for knowledge, skills, and attitudes for interprofessional collaborative practice and team-based care by building consensus among the seven UIC health sciences colleges. Collaborate with University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics leadership in establishing learning experiences in the clinical learning environment that meet pre-qualification program needs and support team training in collaborative practice. Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met; hire, train, and develop staff; and support continued professional development for each staff member. Provide strategic leadership for the business operations of the Center for the Advancement of InterProfessional Practice, Education and Research (CAIPPER) to ensure the effective use of university assets, both financial and human capital. Develop, implement, and maintain an evaluation plan for all CAIPPER activities including systematic data collection, analysis of data, and dissemination of results to stakeholders. Lead efforts to submit grant applications and develop streams of funding to support CAIPPER initiatives. Work closely with Assistant Vice Chancellor for Interprofessional Practice and Education on the development, implementation, and maintenance of an information system to support achievement of CAIPPER's strategic goals. Represent CAIPPER at meetings, prepare reports, and give presentations to various stakeholders within and external to UIC. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Terminal degree in a clinical health care field
- Minimum of five years' experience working in a team-based clinical environment and five years in an academic clinical training program serving as both instructor and educational leader
- Substantial knowledge of interprofessional education, acquired either through formal study or documented experience
- Strong evidence of collaborative leadership across the varying cultures of professionals working in health care delivery
- Skills in curriculum development and evaluation acquired either through formal study or documented experience
- Skills in budgeting, financial management and strategic planning acquired either through formal study or documented experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior knowledge of University of Illinois and its health system
