Job Title: Line Training and Standards Manager

Department: Pilot Training

Location: Toronto, ON

Work Arrangement: This role is primarily based in the office environment.

Position Overview:

The Line Training and Standards Manager works within the Flight Operations training team to ensure industry-leading training is delivered to Flair crew members. Additionally, they are responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining quality assurance on all line and upgrade training syllabi, including ground school, FTD, and FFS. They will be SMEs on all lines, upgrade training, provide oversight to the Standards Pilots, and deliver recommendations to Director, Pilot Training on all related duties.

Primary Job Functions:

The duties of the Line Training and Standards Manager include:
  • Prepare students for evaluation by providing high-quality training and effective feedback and support.
  • Coordinate with all line and simulator instructors to ensure a consistent standard is maintained throughout the operations.
  • Coordinate with all third-party (if required) vendors to ensure a consistent standard is maintained.
  • Assist in developing and facilitating all Command Upgrade materials.
  • Collaborate with the training team to develop training scripts, briefings, and all required course material to ensure training quality.
  • Provide positive leadership and support for instructors.
  • Assist the Director, Pilot Training in monitoring and implementing instructor standards.
  • Assist in the development of best practice policy for the implementation of training.
  • Act as an active contributor to the training program's continual improvement philosophy.
  • Serve as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for all training-related matters.
  • Assist in setting training policy.
  • Support the SMS (Safety Management System) program through participation and reporting.
  • Ensure the initial training course is compliant with TC regulations.
  • Ensure students are supported and training recommendations are made promptly to the MPT.
  • Supply training syllabi feedback and recommendations to ensure Flair training is industry-leading.
  • Contribute to the design and development of training programs, enhancing pilot competency and safety.
  • Lead special projects that align with the company's objectives and vision.
  • Support other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the company, ensuring flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.


Qualifications & Requirements:

The preferred candidate should exemplify Flair's core values of Respect, Integrity, Reliability, and Resilience while demonstrating success in previous roles. Additionally, we are seeking individuals who possess:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Business Management, or a related field
    • Valid Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot's License.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of one year of experience in pilot training, demonstrating a solid foundation in training development and delivery.
    • Proven experience as a simulator instructor and/or evaluator, with the ability to assess and mentor pilots in a structured environment.
    • Familiarity with Transport Canada regulations providing insight into compliance and safety standards.
    • Experience with Boeing aircraft, offering valuable operational knowledge.
    • Direct experience with advanced industry training programs like AQP and EBT.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Technical proficiency, with strong computer skills to navigate software and training technologies.
    • Leadership and Teamwork (LTW) expertise, with the ability to inspire, lead, and collaborate within a team.
    • Effective Workload Management (WLM) skills, capable of balancing competing priorities under tight deadlines.
    • Exceptional Communication (COM) abilities (both verbal and written), ensuring clarity and effectiveness in training and cross-functional collaboration.
    • Multitasking capability, able to manage several projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
    • Highly self-motivated, with a strong sense of initiative and drive to excel in dynamic environments.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), ensuring smooth workflow and communication.
