Compensation: $54,394 - $107,777 (full-time annual)

Reading Consultants work extensively with students to help them improve specific reading skills. Our consultants provide professional development and coaching on strategies for teaching and supporting students in the literacy skills needed to read, read to learn, and comprehend and communicate understanding in writing. Reading Consultants work extensively with students to help them improve specific reading skills. Our consultants provide professional development and coaching on strategies for teaching and supporting students in the literacy skills needed to read, read to learn, and comprehend and communicate understanding in writing. During this assignment, the consultant will:
- Plan and conduct lessons aimed at the specific strategies needed for success in the academic setting in the areas of reading and writing;
- Collaborate with teachers to identify the literacy needs of students, set learning goals and targets and problem solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students in literacy;
- Schedule, manage, and supervise all reading tutors;
- Assist teachers with the collection of data, analysis of data results, and support the sharing of findings with all staff;
- Analyze and share school wide literacy data three times a year and recommend specific grade and school wide goals to improve student achievement;
- Coach teachers across all content areas on reading strategies and evidence based practices for reading and writing;
- Provide professional development for staff and families;
- Chair and/or participate on the SRBI/MTSS process for reading, maintaining all records, overseeing progress monitoring, and assigning students to tutors;
- Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and writing intervention and support services;
- Teach targeted literacy intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources;
- Schedule and coordinate both push-in and pull-out reading services;
- Assist students and teachers using software and materials related to literacy;
- Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date management records of all students' progress, tracking and reporting scores of all universal assessment scores with the principal;
- Create, promote, and monitor a school reading goal for the school that keeps reading at the forefront of our minds;
- Recognize and celebrate student reading achievement;
- Promote school wide literacy celebration and events;
- Work with the Director of Curriculum /Instructional Supervisors and the team of reading consultants across the district;
- Collaborate with Special Services and English Language Learner departments on how to support literacy goals;
- Perform other duties and responsibilities related to literacy and school improvement as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Remedial Reading certification (102) required; prefer Reading and Language Arts Consultant (097);
- Knowledge of Readers/Writers Workshop;
- Strong knowledge of Science of Reading;
- Proficient technology skills;
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills;
- Strong communication skills inclusive of oral and written communication.
