Job Title: Senior Accountant

Reports To: Senior Director of Finance

Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Controller and other Staff in preparing financial statements and organizing, preparing, logging, maintaining, updating, and monitoring company accounting files.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and Accounting policies and procedures.
  • Post and reconcile the General Ledger and subsidiary accounts.
  • Complete monthly Bank Reconciliations and post GL adjusting entries as necessary.
  • Post payroll, cash disbursements and adjusting entries.
  • Post month-end journal entries: administrative, facilities and depreciation allocations.
  • Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll processing, as necessary.
  • Prepare Monthly Financial Statements.
  • Properly code grants as well as matching revenue with expenses.
  • Review and provide daily cash management reporting to the Senior Director of Finance.
  • Assist in the development, standardization, and implementation of effective policies and procedures for the Finance department to assure optimal performance of the department.
  • Increase process efficiencies, streamline processes and related analyses, and provide recommendations to the Senior Director of Finance.
  • Provide analysis, data, reports, and other fiscally relevant information when required.
  • Maintain accounting records for grants, HUD entities and fixed assets.
  • File annual Property Tax Welfare Exemption application.
  • Provide and assist in the agency's annual independent financial audit; by preparing schedules, worksheets and any other required documentation that is needed by an auditor(s).
  • Preparation and reconciliation of health benefits.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of funder regulations as it relates to finance. This includes government rules and regulations and other key factors impacting practices.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned or required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Four-year degree (Bachelor's degree) in accounting or similar discipline required.
  • 5-7 years related accounting experience, with specific experience in analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Experience with grant and/or cost accounting strongly preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Systems oriented, organized with excellent follow-up skills.
  • Able to plan and manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Medical History:

All employees whose functions require or necessitate contact with client or food preparation shall complete a health screening report or a health questionnaire. Health screening report or health questionnaire will be provided upon hire. For all residential employees a health screening report, be completed and signed off by a medical practitioner signature for clearance. All outpatient employees will complete at minimum a self-report screening questionnaire.

TB test are to be conducted under licensed medical supervision not more than 60 calendar days prior to or 7 calendar days after employment and renewed annually from the date of the last tuberculosis test. Staff with a known record of tuberculosis or record of positive testing shall not be required to obtain a tuberculosis skin test. Unless there is documentation that the staff completed at least 6 months of preventive therapy, the staff shall be required to obtain, within 45 calendar days of employment, a chest x-ray result and a physician's statement that the incumbent does not have communicable tuberculosis and has been under regular care and monitoring for tuberculosis. A chest x-ray within the prior 6 months is acceptable. The physician's statement shall be renewed annually.

This job will be primarily located at the CLARE|MATRIX offices in Los Angeles, CA.
