General Summary:
This individual is responsible for the accounting function of the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, including preparation of financial statements and financial analysis reports, and maintaining the system of internal control. The Controller assists the leadership team helping to develop and manage the budget, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Chamber.
This position is local to Northwest Ohio and cannot be performed remotely.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all accounting functions, including grant administration.
Prepare the Chamber's monthly financial statements, including (but not limited to) Statement of Activity, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements and appropriate analytical comments.
Lead the annual budget process and compile the budget package for review and approval.
Prepare or oversee the preparation of all information required by the independent auditors to generate the annual audited financial statements.
Monitor the Chamber's financial performance and communicate with leadership and staff on goals relating to the finances for their respective areas to ensure financial targets (dues and non-dues) are being met.
Maintain Fixed Asset records, reconcile to the General Ledger, prepare annual audit schedules.
Prepare sales tax and workers compensation returns and schedules.
Prepare accounting related portions of the Finance Policy Manual.
Prepare accounting related process documentation for the Finance Procedures manual.
Job Specifications:
BBA/BS in Accounting - CPA/CMA desirable
Record of promotions to positions with increasing responsibilities
Experience in non-profit organization accounting preferred
Ability to manage and work well with others
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Strong customer orientation
