Job Duties & Skills Required

What You Will Do

The overall purpose of this job is to develop and execute strategies for the transportation department across all PACE Centers and assure implementation of quality as it relates to transportation and the participant experience. This role oversees several key components of transportation including software solutions and DOT compliance for vehicles and staff members. The Manager of Transportation oversees the Immanuel fleet including the assessment, purchase and retirement of vehicles and oversees all Immanuel owned vehicle accidents within a risk management function. Other responsibilities include serving as a liaison for the Executive Directors by consulting, coaching and advising within the transportation area. The Manager of Transportation will also work with each Center's Transportation Supervisor to continue to evolve the transportation program to meet and exceed the expectations of the individuals we serve, maintain high levels of participant satisfaction in a safe and healthy environment, collaborate with PACE Transportation Supervisors to hire and retain talent with a passion to serve, and balance quality with costs. Key Areas

Key Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

Transportation Operations
  • Aids in identifying and maintaining fleet replacement strategy.
  • Serve as a resource to Executive Directors to determine need/justification for new vehicle purchases.
  • Take delivery of new vehicles.
  • Consult with Marketing on design and branding of new vehicles.
  • Following delivery of new vehicles, may train Supervisors/drivers on new vehicle features and safety requirements.
  • Functions as a resource assisting the transportation scheduling and logistics dispatch to ensure the efficient use of transportation software, vehicles and equipment.
  • Interfaces with Transportation Departments in PACE to improve transportation tracking, deliveries, reporting, and scheduling.
  • Interfaces with Transportation Departments in PACE to ensure timely and safe transportation of participants to medical
  • Develops and facilitates required trainings for the transportation department across all business lines.
  • Maximizes cost efficiency and productivity of resources for the transportation department and the organization.
  • Is a resource to Immanuel HR to answer questions and aid in resolving concerns with potential/new/existing drivers.
  • Manage and consult on Transportation Scheduling Software for Centers/Communities:
    • Conduct training as requested/needed for new drivers, dispatchers, and managers.
    • Troubleshoot software user issues.
    • Create and delete new and departing users of software - drivers, dispatchers, and managers.
    • Manually Geo-Code problem locations.

Compliance
  • Monitor yearly DOT Vehicle Safety Inspections and issue monthly reports to Center/Communities on vehicles due in the next 90 days to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure that vehicle Pre-Trip Inspections are being completed and maintained for a period of 6 months (electronic or paper copies).
  • Develops and implements new policies, procedures and software programs in order to satisfy regulatory requirements and company objectives.
  • Directs annual policy reviews with transportation teams.


Risk Management
  • Provides strategic direction and assures implementation of safety and security related training programs across business lines as it pertains to transportation.


Staff Leadership
  • Confers with managers on quality and quantity of staff for Transportation Departments.
  • Collaborates with respective EDs on performance level of each Transportation Supervisor.
  • Serves as a resources to assist Transportation Supervisors in hiring, supervising and management of transportation staff.
  • Provides, by example and leadership, motivation and direction to employees of the organization.
  • Develops strategic plans for the transportation department, determines goals and objectives and develops methods to produce desired outcomes in the Immanuel organization while evaluating effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with transportation staff to utilize talents and resources effectively.
  • Coordinates best practices and idea sharing with PACE and Community Transportation management.
  • Identifies ideas, challenges or issues found in the organization and offers solutions.
  • Encourages and develops interest in the company's physical environment through personal and professional leadership: working toward group outcomes.
  • Embraces educational opportunities and/or professional coaching to enhance/improve managerial skills.
  • Leads and demonstrates a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement: identifies and responds actively and with sensitivity.

Fleet Management
  • Serve as a resource to Centers/Communities on vehicle issues.
  • Act as a liaison to approved vehicle maintenance vendors and assist with identifying new vendors, as needed.


Skills & Requirements

Education-
  • Bachelor's degree in administration, management or a related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent years of experience may substitute for education requirement.

Experience-
  • Seven (7) years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in transportation or related experience is required.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Equivalent years of education may substitute for experience requirement.

Other Requirements -
  • Must have a valid Driver's License in the respective state in which he/she resides.
  • Must have an acceptable record from the respective state's Motor Vehicle Department in which the individual's license was issued.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a DOT Medical Exam and obtain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
