Job Description
The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP) faculty provides program instruction incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies and other industry trends reflecting advancements in your discipline. This position is a 12-month Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, non-tenure track position. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience related to the position. This position resides within the Oxley College of Health Sciences in the School of Nursing. This Individual will report directly to the Director of the School of Nursing with indirect reporting to the Dean of the Oxley College of Health Sciences.

Job Description

This position is a 12-month Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, non-tenure track position. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience related to the position. This position resides within the Oxley College of Health Sciences in the School of Nursing. This Individual will report directly to the Director of the School of Nursing with indirect reporting to the Dean of the Oxley College of Health Sciences.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:
- Teaches courses in accordance with college and university expectations
- Serves as a member of the DNP Council
- Promotes an interdisciplinary approach to advanced practice nursing education and healthcare delivery within and outside of The University of Tulsa
- Serves on University, Oxley College of Health Sciences, and departmental committees to which appointed or elected
- Implements the graduate nursing program course of study following institutional learning outcomes and ACEN accreditation standards.
- Serves on student DNP project committees and guides students with scholarlyDNP projects
- Fosters an enviornment of inquiry and scholarship with the translation of new knowledge into practice and the use of evidence-based care.
- Participates in the annual admission process for the AG-ACNP program
- Acts as a liaison with the clinical affiliate health system and facility, as well as members of the medical staff, in matters relating to student learners credentialing, schedule, and performance of practicum.
- Holds conferences with student learners regularly and at practicum completion to provide feedback regarding the attainment of clinical objectives, assess clinical case logs, and determine clinical needs; guides, counsels, and advises students in their clinical progression.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Graduate of an accredited program focused on the AG-ACNP
- A doctoral degree in nursing or related degree or be enrolled in an accredited program to obtain a doctoral degree
- At least two years' experience in the clinical setting as an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Unencumbered current license to practice as a registered professional nurse and APRN-CNP in Oklahoma compliant with state law or eligible
- Current certification or recertification by the ANCC or AANP
- Current knowledge of Acute Care practice, clinical content knowledge, and related professional issues as demonstrated by: (a) current clinical practice (b) research in clinical area and education in the clinical area (d) use of evidence-based practice in instruction, in consultation with clinical experts as appropriate and (e) participation in continuous professional development program; knowledge of environmental issues (e.g. community and workforce needs, changes in financial and clinical resources, state and federal regulatory requirements, accreditation requirements, scope of practice, educational environments, healthcare reimbursement, technological advancements) that may influence the program and Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner practice by engaging in professional development (e.g. attendance at professional meetings, active engagement in state and/or national professional associations, active participation on program and institutions' committees, and scholarly activities)
- A record of research, scholarship, or achievement appropriate for the position
- Effective interpersonal and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
