Supply Chain Manager

POSITION TITLE: Supply Chain Manager

FUNCTION:

The Supply Chain Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations and ensures the smooth operation of various processes that contribute to the production of hair products. The Supply Chain Manager coordinates, organizes, and oversees all activities involved in the identification, acquisition, production, and distribution of the company's goods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain
• Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain
• Develops and maintains detailed inventories of materials and supplies located in the company, at sites, and in the factory
• Maintains required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production
• Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company
• Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes
• Identifies optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution
• Assesses the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; makes recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials
• Negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies
• Participates as an advisory member of the product development team, providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials
• Acts as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, product line extension, or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions
• Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments
• Performs other related duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position manages purchasing, scheduling, material planning, inbound and outbound logistics functions

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors degree in Business or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
• Equivalent 5+ years previous supply chain management experience, including forecasting, scheduling and real-time operations management
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Lean Manufacturing experience a plus

CERTIFICATES:

• Lean Manufacturing certification a plus
• Effective Management and communication certifications a plus
• Relevant training certifications in industry topics a plus

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Effective communication skill with the ability to communicate at all levels of employees and strong initiative and leadership capabilities

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Advanced mathematical skills to research supply chain analytics and to investigate complex issues, identify and resolve problems and make better operational decisions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is mostly sedentary and requires repetitive hand movements, may require some standing, walking, bending and filing throughout the work day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to work in front of a computer monitor for extended periods of the day.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely works in a busy warehouse and production environment.
