GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Student Services is responsible for the planning, development, organization, management, direction, and implementation of all aspects of student support services programs of the District. Responsibilities include: student discipline procedures, student & school safety, alternative education programming, attendance, athletics, school counseling services, foster care, and 504's. Supports school administration with discipline, monitors and evaluates discipline data, supports behavior planning, supports parents/families with concerns/complaints brought to District and schools.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Provides oversight to site Administration specific to training and implementation of the District student behavior/discipline matrix Acts as Chief Security Officer over safety of students and staff and is a member of the Incident Command in times of crisis. Conducts data analysis of discipline referral data and student attendance data and assists the Executive Director of Student Information Systems and Technology with state reporting Provides site and District level student discipline data and designs and provides professional learning for site leaders and site leadership teams Guides, directs and participates in serious discipline processes, including long-term suspensions and expulsions Coordinates alternative education programming for the District and parent and staff committees involving discipline and attendance. Provides direction, coordination, and guidance to the District's school counseling services and outside contracted services as needed. Assesses discipline, attendance and school counseling needs to coordinate additional supports for schools when appropriate Supervises the 504 case management district-wide Assists with the management of emergency response protocols, emergency response plans for all campuses,and Informacast messaging and notification system Coordinates communication of and oversight for incident reporting and threat assessment process (SOP) Oversees the partnership with local law enforcement partners and school resource and school safety officers Serves as the District Athletic Director Conducts evaluations of education-related programs for the purpose of measuring and reporting
on program effectiveness and organizational decision making
Writes reports summarizing technical research findings for use in policy making, planning, and
organizational decision making
Presents technical information to a variety of organizational stakeholders for purpose of
professional development, capacity building, policy analysis and decision making
Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of meeting department objectives Establishes and maintains good rapport with students, employees, community members and
vendors
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality Other job-related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Educational Leadership/Administration, or related field Minimum of five years successful experience working directly with students Minimum of three years successful site level principal experience Valid Arizona administrative certificate Valid fingerprint clearance card
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Successful experience with supporting administrators with behavior Successful experience as an elementary and/or middle school principal
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Evidence of ability to effectively use technology to perform duties Ability to build relationships, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively with site administrators, coaches, interventionists, specialists and teachers Excellent communication skills Good organizational skills and the ability to understand and carry out assigned work with minimal supervision Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
