We are hiring a Senior Director, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). This position is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees at multiple facilities (six manufacturing facilities and one office) by improving, implementing and monitoring facility safety programs and developing controls for all areas of property and casualty risks. Oversees the facilities and ensures all contractor/vendors are in compliance with all Federal, State and Local Safety and Environmental regulations. This position leads a team of 5-6 direct reports and a total team of 12+ safety professionals.
Location: Ideally Bloomington, MN - will also consider candidates in Southern California, New Jersey, Ohio or fully remote. The role requires at least 70% travel.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provides technical direction and guidance to plant managers and all facility-level staff regarding compliance in EHS.
- Leads cultural change to embrace new and improved safety programs and policies at all levels of the organization.
- Develops and implements environmental, health & safety compliance programs and policies, as well as coordinate and/or deliver training for all Operations facilities and their applicable staff.
- Manages, trains and develops a team of safety leaders and professionals.
- Directs all environmental permitting activities.
- Directs all relationships and communications with OSHA, USEPA and internal and external legal team re: EHS issues.
- Identifies, develops and implements economically feasible solutions to environmental, health & safety issues/problems for the company's facilities.
- Participates in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, and site expansions as the EHS SME.
- Advises senior management on the compliance status, costs, and technical improvements needed to achieve compliance. Negotiates satisfactory environmental protections and terms in real estate transaction and purchase agreements.
- Participates in internal & external auditing for EHS at the site level, and acts as process owner/auditor.
- Contracts with and directs activities of appropriate environmental, health & safety analysts, hygienists, consultants, engineers and suppliers.
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, food manufacturing preferred
- Previous Director level Experience in EHS & Risk Management
- Extensive knowledge of Federal and State regulations with respect to United States OSHA, EPA regulations, Worker's Compensation and USDA and other federal state and local regulations as the pertain to EHS
- Ability to effectively lead a team of safety professionals across the US
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to conduct training sessions, and influence senior leaders across the organization
