Summary of Position
Provides leadership for all aspects for the office in supervising staff and the implementation and administration of all programs and/or services. Determines the prioritization and coordination of requests, development of reports, training and support. Develops, implements, and manages both the technical and the functional aspects of reporting systems to provide data and information for YSU planning, assessment, decision making and resource allocation. Supports evidence-based decision making, policy generation and strategic planning through the collection, analysis and reporting of institutional data. Plans institutional research protocol and performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Supervises staff; assigns and reviews work; establishes timeframes for the completion of assigned tasks; trains and orients new employees; approves/disapproves requests for paid leaves; interviews candidates for employment and makes recommendations for hire; evaluates employee work performance; receives and responds to grievances; provides assistance with the development of unit work procedures and policies.
Oversees the day-to-day functionality and assumes general oversight of the assigned area's operations and services as related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective. Directs daily tasks related to the full scope of a department's/division's overall programs and/or services. Develops and maintains standard operating procedures for reporting processes that ensure data integrity; improves existing data collection strategies and develops new approaches and procedures to guide institutional data governance.
Leads the team dedicated to providing data and access to information on targeted topics benefiting institutional evaluation and improvement, institutional effectiveness, resources and planning. Develops and provides scheduled dashboards and reports on key performance indicators and strategic plans for timely data-driven decision making, supporting and participating in strategic planning initiatives. Manages additional data requests and reports as appropriate to improve institutional outcomes.
Responsible for the IR data to compliance reporting related to federal, state and program accreditation mandates. Manages the institutions compliance with required state (HEI) and federal (IPEDS) reporting requirements; provides dissemination of compiled research reports and oversee completion of external surveys. Serves as the IPEDS Keyholder, performing as a liaison between the federal government and applicable YSU administrative offices; directs the institution's interpretation of Higher Education Information System (HEI) data file specifications and guides the development of internal data tables, files, datasets, and processes to build a data structure to automate the routine compilation of data files for required submission.
Works collaboratively with leadership to optimize YSU's reporting platform to support both visual and tabular reporting for required reports, accreditation, strategic planning, assessment, analysis, and predictive analytics. Adheres and assists with the establishment of policies and procedure that ensure responsible acquisition, discovery and application of knowledge.

Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for reporting processes that ensure data integrity; improve existing data collection strategies and develop new approaches and procedures to guide institutional data governance.
Provides both operational and summary data to the YSU community. This includes, but is not limited to, routine data requests by the Provost, Deans, chairs, and others for program review, accreditation, reporting, and other needs. Provides information relating to academic programs, curriculum, students, faculty, staff, and other areas of the University.
Prepares for and attends events.
Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with training new hires.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Potential for remote work.

Knowledge of: University structure, policies and procedures*; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives*; department/division policies and procedures*; workplace safety practices and procedures*; English grammar and spelling; records management; office management; project management; terms and definitions of standard data element and experience working with spreadsheet, large complex databases/datasets, and statistical software to evaluate data.
Skill in: Programming and coding, use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*.
Ability to: deal with problems involving several variables within familiar context; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; compile and prepare reports; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; prepare accurate documentation; maintain records according to established procedures; travel to and gain access to work site; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one tasks to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor's degree in a related field; four or more years of related experience. One or more year(s) of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in data analytics, data science, business analytics, or a related field. Five or more years of experience in a higher education, or related setting; two or more years reporting data to state or federal agencies. Experience developing and deploying dashboards, metrics, or key performance indicators; experience developing comparative data sets. Experience with Ellucian Banner or similar ERP /SIS system.
