JOB SUMMARY:

The Information Security Engineer assists with the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure information systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. This role combines strategic security planning with hands-on technical expertise to help protect the organization's infrastructure and data against evolving cyber threats.

The Information Security Engineer works closely with stakeholders across the business to assist in integrating security into system architectures and software development lifecycles, designing robust security frameworks, and developing secure processes. They are also responsible for researching emerging security trends and technologies, making recommendations to enhance the organization's security posture. Additionally, they support the Security Manager in aligning operations with internal policies and external regulations, managing risk assessments, audits, and compliance initiatives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Security Architecture Support: Develop and recommend security architectures and frameworks to safeguard systems, networks, and data.
  • GRC Strategy Assistance: Support Governance, Risk, and Compliance activities, including policy development, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
  • Risk Management Support: Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability testing, providing recommendations for security improvements.
  • Compliance Support: Assist in ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, HIPAA) and support regulatory audits.
  • Security Monitoring Assistance: Help implement and manage security monitoring systems to detect and respond to threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Incident Response Support: Assist in developing and maintaining incident response plans, working with IT teams to mitigate breaches and minimize damage.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and business units to support the integration of security measures throughout the IT infrastructure.
  • Training & Awareness Support: Assist in leading security awareness programs and training sessions for employees to reinforce security best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement Support: Stay informed about emerging technologies and cyber threats, supporting the continuous evolution of security strategies.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in information security, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP and CISM are helpful but not required.
  • 3+ years of experience in security architecture, GRC, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST)..
  • Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with cloud security architectures (e.g. AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., CCPA, HIPAA).
  • Understanding of automation of security tasks (SOAR).
  • Familiarity with security operations centers (SOCs), Security Incident and Event Management systems (SIEM), and threat intelligence.


TRAVEL:

  • The ability to travel domestically (less than 20%) with occasional opportunities for International Travel.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and communicate verbally and in writing. Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate standard office equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and printer. Work will be performed in an open office environment with cubicles.
