JOB PURPOSE
The Electrical Engineer will develop, troubleshoot, build and improve equipment and processes used for fabrication of glass-based optical fiber, including optimization of established methods and development of new machine control and material handling processes. They will identify suitable current technology solutions that can be integrated with existing equipment as well as explore new approaches.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Not less than 3 years' experience in the Electrical Engineering role in a Manufacturing environment.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for direct support of various manufacturing processes in the Carrollton Cable facility. The job functions include troubleshooting process-related problems; development of control systems that allow for new products and processes; design control circuits and equipment with panel layouts, machines and components to improve existing processes; improve processes by performing trials and creating operating guidelines to document changes; Supporting introductions of new materials; Provide technical support to different departments.
The Electrical Engineer also creates specifications for new equipment and is involved in the layout and commissioning of equipment and materials, as well as interacting with sister cable around the world.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

- Experience with continuous extrusion.
- Manufacturing Experience.
- Six-Sigma and Lean experience.
- Electrical CAD-software packages experience, min. 1 year, with SolidWorks &/or AutoCAD
- Accomplishments such as electrical system development, installation, start-up, and commissioning, on projects that result in the manufacture of fiber optic cable, scrap reduction, throughput improvements, electrical power distribution, project management, Six-Sigma projects, Lean support and process stabilization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Root cause analysis.
- Improving process yields, through-put, flexibility, productivity and capacity.
- Lean manufacturing general concept.
- Designing, specifying and commissioning tools, equipment, tests and methods.
- Presentation skills and public speaking.
- Knowledge of plant Fire Control systems and plant communication systems.
- 3 to 5 years on-the-job experience in a directly related position desired.
- Proficiency in programming industrial equipment, including PLC/HMI programming skills, particularly with Siemens and Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) platforms
- Experience with machine guarding including safety relays and/or safety PLCs and programming.
- Experience in assembling and interfacing with remote hardware such as motors, heat-control Electrical systems and various I/O signal types.
- Experience with developing, managing the installation of, troubleshooting, improving and maintaining electrical power distribution systems.
- Self-starter with the ability to take on and learn new Electrical system skills rapidly with high motivation and enthusiasm. Collaborations will be developed within the local teams and with other company locations.
- Must have a passion for troubleshooting and developing/building new processes.
- Diverse software skills are a plus such as (e.g. Java, Python, C, C#, SQL, VB)
- Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred)
- Sound documentation processes and practice is essential. Must be able to write procedures, troubleshooting guides and software documentation.
- Ability to create engineering drawings (wiring, equipment layout, etc.) utilizing AutoCAD or similar software.
