Position Summary:
The Director of Curriculum and Instructional Design (Development) reports to the National Dean of Curriculum and provides leadership, onboarding, training, and project management within the Department. The Director oversees the design, development, maintenance, and improvement of a portfolio of face-to-face (f2f), online and blended curricula across a variety of disciplines, schools, and audiences. The Director will collaborate closely with academic leadership at the school and corporate level in new program development, curricular renovation, and the design of f2f, hybrid, and online courses. S/he will identify the instructional design best practices and supporting educational technologies needed to effectively work with faculty and academic leaders to articulate the goals, assessments, activity paths, learning objects and content for each course. S/he will also oversee the work of assigned instructional designers, subject matter experts, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure courses are aligned with regulatory and programmatic outcomes and instructional design best. The Director is an expert in instructional design, technology, and project management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a curriculum revision and program review schedule.
- Ensure all courses and programs are developed using the best instructional design practices for the selected modality.
- Provide training and daily management for the Instructional Designers (ID) and Instructional Technology Specialist (ITS) to support their success in curriculum design, development, maintenance, and implementation projects.
- Develop and manage department and individual project plans to ensure attainable goals/milestones/timelines for curriculum projects; Develop processes and strategies for achieving each milestone in a project plan while adhering to Education Affiliates standards, guidelines, policies, and regulations.
- Lead the design and creation of content using a variety of multimedia, including infographics, video and audio editing, and interactive modules.
- Conduct research and data analysis relating to the effectiveness of deployed courses, technologies, and support relating to those technologies.
- Support the department in committee and campus communications, meetings, and training in the acquisition of subject area content to develop, enhance and deliver curriculum materials.
- Ensure team and committee minutes are completed to promote efficiency, goal completion, and the timely completion of action items.
- Collaborate with contractors both internal and external, such as program directors (PDs) subject matter experts (SMEs) and instructional designers (ID's), or technicians required for curriculum development and integration.
- Manage the design and development of syllabi and instructional materials, including such materials as course and book maps, lesson plans, support materials like lecture presentations, lecture notes, and project handouts, and formative and summative assessment instruments and rubrics.
- Review the quality and accuracy of course and curriculum deliverables by evaluation of process and outcome measures and early detection of errors.
- Support the curriculum team and LMS Administrator, and those responsible for curriculum design and development to ensure that curriculum repositories are maintained, version controlled, and adjusted as needed in SharePoint and the Canvas LMS.
- Monitor the activity in the curriculum support ticketing system, response times, and change management.
- Guide the department to troubleshoot issues within the curriculum and create plans to implement appropriate solutions.
- Oversee the testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting of instructional technology applications within the LMS and external systems.
- Interface with third-party content providers (vendors) and internal colleagues to scope requirements for curriculum and managing vendor tools.
- Oversee the development of job aids, micro-training, and training documentation to assist with implementing instructional technologies, tools, and workflows.

Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:
- Master's degree required and doctorate desired, preferably in instructional technology, project or organizational management, instructional design, or education leadership.
- Five years, or more, of experience in curriculum management, instructional technology, and quality assurance, preferably in the career-focused education sector.
- Demonstrated experience developing team-based, collaborative, and/or project-based courses and curricula.
- Advanced knowledge of curriculum design models and instructional methodologies.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365 suite including Teams, SharePoint, virtual conferencing applications, and course development software, and the Canvas LMS.
- Committed to customer satisfaction: exceptional skills in collaboration, consultation, communication, customer support, data analysis, and daily virtual time management in the eastern and central time zones.
