Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assure compliance with all Federal, State and Local governmental regulations including health and safety regulations
- Maintain compliance with all 29 CFR 1910 and state regulations
- Interact with all regulatory agencies to assure ongoing compliance as well as compliance of any process changes or the addition of new processes
Monitor, maintain and manage all environmental permits, programs, and licenses - Manage monitoring and reporting requirements of air emissions, industrial and hazardous waste disposal, storm water permitting and water discharge programs
- Provide ongoing recommendations to the plant leadership team on environmental issues and concerns
- Maintain an effective EHS&S program that includes training, record keeping and compliance with all State and Federal regulations
- Complete or assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning and execution to include management review and approval
- Develop and lead EHS&S training and seminars for compliance with internal programs, government agencies and visitors
- Coordinate annual projects/initiatives including CPR / First Aid response, flu shots, audio-metric testing, evacuation drills and other required annual testing/activities
- Assist HR with workers compensation claims. Maintain all OSHA record keeping requirements and act as a liaison with government agencies.
- Perform weld ventilation tests as required
- Take regular noise level readings in plant areas as required
- Along with HR, conduct new-hire employee safety orientation
- Maintain complete records on inspections with all Federal, State and Local governmental visits and inspections
- Maintain an inventory of all types of PPE used by plant employees
- Develop Job Safety Analyses for various jobs and determine appropriate PPE required for each job function
- Provide first aid facility and action plan for use for plant employees
- Familiarity with all plant equipment and assist in maintenance for EH&SS assessments
- Work with various vendors and contractors to ensure safe practices in the local facility and coordinate with vendors to acquire necessary liability agreements and ensure insurance requirements are met
- Prepare reports and statistical analysis of EH&SS data for the plant and corporate review
- Lead in conducting Risk Assessments and working on improvements.
- Lead with and participate in site safety, ergonomic or other EHS meetings at all levels.
- Lead in review, maintaining and writing EHS: procedures, work instructions and maps.
- Perform internal audits for EHS and ISO 9001.
- Set and perform to annual Objectives including Safety, Environmental and Cost Savings.
- Perform LPA's (Layered Process Audits) for Safety, Environmental, Lockout, Machine Guarding, etc.
- Hold and lead Kaizen events for EHS improvements.
- Perform all work in a confidential manner as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in industrial safety or related field preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with developing and deploying EHS&S programs in a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of safety experience in an industrial or manufacturing facility
- A solid understanding of and experience with environmental compliance required
- Formal training related to OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and state OSHA regulations, as applicable
- Comprehensive knowledge of EHS laws and regulations
SKILLS:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and members of leadership.
- Strong leadership and communication skills that can drive a sense of common purpose and vision among the team.
- Excellent planning, problem solving and organization skills.
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- Excellent knowledge of safety topics typically encountered in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent knowledge of all safety and environmental laws and OSHA regulations.
- Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining strong EHS&S programs.
