Hiring Range: $80,204.80 -$104,270.40

The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Responsibilities:
  • Makes recommendation regarding prevention and control on a 24 hour basis.
  • Works with employee health regarding relevant staff member health issues.
  • Monitors and investigates known or suspected sources of infections to determine the source and ensure control.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and implements regulations, standards, and/or guidelines of applicable governmental agencies and professional organizations.
  • Collaborates in the development and delivery of educational programs and/or tools that relate to infection prevention, control, and epidemiology.
  • Reports infection surveillance, prevention, and control in formation to local, state, and federal public health authorities in accordance with law and regulation.
  • Participates in the development of special studies designed to identify unusual epidemic situations or to evaluate the impact of new products, equipment, or delivery of patient care.
  • Reports results to Infection Control Committee and other appropriate departments and/or committees.
  • Coordinated the annual Infection Control Risk Assessment in conjunction with IC committee.
  • Cooperate with county and state departments of health regarding infections and communicable disease reporting.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the Leapfrog Safety Grade Hand Hygiene Program.

Complexity of Work:
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Licensure / Certification / Registration: Preferred Credential(s):
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the New York Board of Nursing.
  • CIC certification or enrollment within 1 year of hire into CIC program with the expectation of CIC certification within 18months

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required, Masters preferred.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and follow instructions in English.

Work Experience:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience Previous experience in direct patient care
  • Has worked collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams focused on quality/ regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Education to staff and providers.
