Engineering Director

Job Summary:
Provide strong management skills and the ability to manage other disciplines in a dynamic environment.
Authorities: Oversee the ongoing continual improvement of Cross Functional Teams (CFT) utilizing best practices of 5S. Final authority regarding processes within area of direct responsibilities, in accordance with company policy and procedure. Managerial authority regarding personnel issues in accordance with company policy and legal requirements, including hiring. Approval of overtime schedules for personnel assigned to area. Determine access authorizations to software/databases and restricted facility areas within area of responsibility.
Essential Functions:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Lead the Cross Functional Teams, including Estimating, Engineering, and Design and accountable for the execution of and support for CFT processes. Develop and maintain methods and policies to ensure the manufacture of product meeting all customer requirements. Ensure resources are best utilized to achieve both short and long-term goals. Analyze and evaluate problems and recommend solutions. Provide periodic reports to executive management. Ensure a qualified staff through appropriate hiring, training, and development.
Qualification Requirements:
Educational Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
Experience - Dynamic high-energy leader. A proven track record of successful leadership in a highly technical environment, and operations experience. Management level experience in CNC, multi axis machining, weld fabrications, meeting exacting specifications, production control and maintenance.
Successful candidate will have 10-15 years progressive plant operations management experience along with 5 years general management. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement operational enhancements resulting in performance improvements that provide positive bottom-line impact. Demonstrated ability to lead and enhance a strong management team and attracting strong additional management talent.
Essential Mental Functions:
Must be able to motivate and manage people under stressful conditions.
Essential Physical Functions:
Requires prolonged sitting and occasional walking, bending, and stooping. Requires hearing and vision correctable to within normal range for communication with customer and company needs. May require odd hours, odd shifts, and overtime.
Availability:
Travel: Occasional travel to support business needs.
Working Conditions: Normally works in an office environment and may occasionally be subject to:
Supervisory Responsibilities: Cross Functional Team Leaders, Estimating and Engineering.

Essential Functions:
- Maintain and control documentation systems.
- Develop, modify and implement departmental procedures and work instructions.
- Identify departmental training requirements and conduct training when necessary.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to CFT leaders, engineering team members, and other personnel needing engineering technical information. Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of technical problems in the manufacturing area.
- Review incoming inquiries with Estimating team and assign estimating responsibility to engineering teams.
- Review and monitor along with PC and manufacturing managers, the shop capacity versus load and our ability to meet customer delivery requirements on incoming orders.
- Participate in engineering release meetings.
- Review feasibility of proposed engineering changes and follow up with CFT Leaders/manufacturing operations personnel to insure proper incorporation or disposition.
- Participate in post job reviews.
- Review corrective action requests. Follow up to ensure timely and proper disposition and root cause analysis.
- Participate in performance improvement activities with manufacturing personnel.
- Maintain departmental and inter-departmental communications.
