POSITION OVERVIEW
The IT Engagement & Delivery Lead is responsible for various methods and practices around improving and managing the overall IT engagement and delivery maturity across the organization. The role will also involve tracking and reporting the conformance to plans and expectations of IT-oriented initiatives. As an arm of the overall IT governance function, the IT Engagement & Delivery Lead is responsible for supporting and enabling the organization's projects, programs, and structured work efforts. The IT Engagement & Delivery Lead ensures that the work of the Engagement & Delivery Team adds value and is relevant to the strategy of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Proactively serve as a strategic partner with functions to stimulate, surface, and shape business demand and ensure that the potential business value from those assets and capabilities is captured, realized, optimized, and recognized.
Must develop a deep knowledge of the business partner's functional department and build positive relationships, both horizontally and vertically.
Ensure project and initiative progress, including consistent and effective communication. This includes managing escalation and avoiding risk.
Be an active participant in business strategy, stay current on competitors, determine industry trends, and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
Drive consensus for a desired future state that meets the business need and enterprise objectives; can uncover needs that functional partners and end-users could not articulate on their own and provide solutions.
Manage requirements to the smallest set that will significantly advance business objectives. Understand business process complexity.
Influence business partner requirements in support of enterprise objectives. Must be able to drive end-user adoption and productivity improvement.
Manage project intake (pipeline) process according to IT policies and procedures.
Must be effective at project chartering, which includes understanding the business idea and translating that to measurable proposed project benefits, scope, assumptions, constraints, and business value.
Be the voice of the customer to help sell the idea to management to gain approval for a project.
Prioritize projects/enhancements, monitor portfolio health, and communicate status updates to business partners throughout execution.
Influence and work with project teams and contribute to their targeted project outcome. Highly respected and trusted by project teams with decisions concerning optimizing requirements prioritization.
Take a consistent, proactive lead analyst role with projects assigned.
Build long-term relationships with executives, business partners, and IT staff to ensure projects are successful.
Facilitate the agreed-upon process that develops plans and prioritization by leadership and governance.
Define, manage, and direct the needed end-to-end PM work effort, which includes leveraging best practices and techniques in identifying, quantifying, and tracking the realization of expected benefits defined in business cases.
Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to Engagement & Delivery staff and project managers.
Build and maintain relationships with senior leadership and key IT stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor.
Regularly review and evaluate opportunities with the IT PMO to improve the project management best practices in order to achieve higher maturity in PPM.
KNOWLEDGE & KEY COMPETENCIES
Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science, engineering, or equivalent work experience.
20 years of relevant work experience spanning business relationship management, project planning and execution, deployments, IT roadmap development, and IT portfolio management.
Domain experience in software development and infrastructure support.
Working knowledge and/or experience with Change Management, PMP, PPM, and Process Optimization Methodologies, i.e. Six Sigma, etc.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to present information in ways senior business and financial leaders can understand and support.
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with stakeholders in different regions and interact effectively with different cultures.
Exceptionally self-motivated and self-directed to work with Leadership and geographically dispersed business and IT teams.
Business-facing skills (listening, ability to playback and validate concepts, developing proposals, conceptual/strategic selling).
Ability to discern business pain points and strategic opportunities that can be addressed by information systems, processes and services.
Track record of good business relationships and business value delivery, operating successfully in a matrixed IT environment, and leveraging supplier resources in an outsourced IT model.
IT delivery coordination experience will be highly relevant.
