The Reliability Manager is responsible for the reliability improvements of the site equipment delivering world class preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives through technical assurance to the assets.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to extreme heat. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in some areas of the work environment requires ear protection. Employee must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Comply with all environmental, health, safety and housekeeping programs.
- Conducts studies pertaining to production processes improvements for increased throughput and higher yield. On the basis of these studies, develops and implements plans and programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods.
- Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and workflow to improve efficiencies in plant and production facilities and equipment layouts; and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.

- Recommends and implements methods of improvement based on leading technologies and industrial engineering principles to improve operating performance and reduce waste, delays and costs.
- Provide direct supervisory support for the planning & implementation of approved improvement projects.
- Identifies bottlenecks to improve process times and recommends cost-saving measures.
- Seek opportunities where automating existing processes or replacing them with new technology will improve productivity and safety.
- Assist Project engineers in the planning and design of facilities and processes.
- Ensure that Lean manufacturing principles are applied within all aspects of the system. As well as be familiar with Tack Times, SMED, Poke Yoke, Kan-Bans, Kaizen, 6S, A3, TPM, etc.
- Prepare engineering documents including, Process Flow Diagram, related time studies, cost estimates, standard operation sheets, capital expense requests, project schedules, design specifications, equipment specifications, and construction specifications
- Ensures effective productivity and production measurements are established for identified processes in the plant. Monitors system and expands it as necessary.
- Analyzes, recommends, designs and implements enhancements to existing work methods, flows and processes to improve current capabilities.
- Communicates with management on all changes in work standards.
- Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for methods and processes.
- Reviews, creates or modifies new or existing processes related to equipment, materials/flow, production outputs to ensure the highest level of optimization of schedules and financial results.
- Partners with department manager to resolve production problems, maximize product yeid, and/or minimize costs.
- Ensures any process changes meet ISO process requirements and are documented accurately.
- Champions asset upgrades and provides input in the calculations of the ROI for production equipment investments and capital expenditure requests.
- Applies the principles of science, mathematics, and engineering to improve the operation of complex systems.
- Other tasks as assigned
PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:
- BSME, BSCHE, BSEE, BSIE or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years hands-on experience in heavy manufacturing industry, mechanical systems troubleshooting, design, fabrication, manufacturing, installation and operations.
- AutoCAD/Solidworks experience.
- 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- 4-year degree required, in Industrial, Manufacturing or Chemical Engineering.
- The solid knowledge base in manufacturing processes in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to effectively implement a change in a department through personal leadership with the support of department managers and plant leadership. without direct reporting responsibility.
- Strong project management skillset
- Can conceptualize an ideal state and communicate it through the organization.
- Proactive, ability to think in an overall business and financial manner
- Motivated self-starter who is able
- Be able to work under pressure and as business needs change
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD, and statistical software
- Proficient in technical writing
- Self-discipline to manage multiple tasks prioritize and execute own efforts with minimal direct supervision
- Additional experience desired: Metals recovery, smelting and converting; ferrous and non-ferrous metals selection and application; high temperature refractory and metals selection and application; large capacity air/gas/02 fired furnaces; CMMS and MP2 application, implementation, and utilization; SCAQMD, OSHA, NIOSH, Industrial Ventilation requirements, permitting, standards and regulations; ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18000 awareness.
