Job Description
Purpose of the Position:
Under the supervision of the director, this position encompasses professional, clinical and supervisory work of varying degrees with latitude for independent initiative and judgment.
Major Duties:
Knowledgeable of Federal, State and local laws concerning the filling and dispensing of medications
Interpret, fill and dispense prescriptions and prescriber orders.
Have the skills and knowledge to provide patient counseling and education to outpatient and discharged patients
Able to Compound and reconstitute medications in line with prescriptions and orders.
Has the knowledge to review drug-drug, drug-food and drug-lab interactions.
Review and Profile drug orders.
Able to communicate well with other health professionals.
Suggest and Intervene on Problematic Drug Orders.
Has the Knowledge to provide up-to-date drug information as well as billing information
Order all pharmacy related items (both drugs and supplies) using different ordering platforms (i.e. Cardinal Order Express, Peoplesoft Supply Chain, Henry Schein,)
Order products for Family Planning and GYN clinic
Coordinate drug borrowing and loaning process
Oversees daily and monthly narcotic inventory counts
Coordinate drug returns to reverse distributor
Perform and coordinate all functions related to the Outpatient Robot (Parata) including loading, calibration and troubleshooting, as well as placing calls for technical assistance whenever necessary
Assist in maintaining accurate and complete records of departmental activities
Assist in special projects and performance improvement initiatives.
Assist in the coordination of the monthly inspection of stockroom.
Supervise stockroom personnel
Perform all pharmacy related functions
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid NY State license to practice pharmacy.
