We are seeking experienced, strategic, and analytically minded candidates for the position of Controller.

This role ensures that all accounting and financial procedures are aligned to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and NCUA regulations. Also to provide leadership and coordination of Justice Federal Credit Union's (Justice Federal's) accounting operations, financial accounting and budget management functions.

Key Job Functions:
  • Ensuring all general ledger accounts are in balance and all supporting reconciliations are prepared in a timely and accurate manner. Also ensures the timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Monitors and analyzes monthly operating results against budget, and proactively communicates and addresses budgetary issues with Senior Management.
  • Maintains model(s) used to calculate loan allowance (CECL). This includes staying current with CECL guidance and working with third party vendor(s) to ensure accuracy of data and assumptions.
  • Analyzes financial information for potential acquisition targets. Coordinates with third party vendors to accurately consolidate successful acquisitions.


Required Skills and Experience:
  • Strong writing skills including the ability to prepare extensive written documentations on financial reports, financial highlights and minutes of any management meeting. Ability to prepare white papers on accounting issues; written reports on budgets, plans, correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to staff and management.
  • Eight to ten years of similar or related experience. Prior experience in a credit union or similar financial institution is preferred.
  • A master's degree, or bachelor's degree plus professional certification (e.g. CPA).

Compensation ranges are based on market data that enables Justice Federal Credit Union to remain competitive with other credit unions of similar asset size.
