- Location: Maywood, IL; occasion travel to other sites may be required
About the Job
In this role, the Dosimetrist, under the supervision of the Chief Dosimetrist:
- Practices external beam treatment planning
- Participates in department QA processes, including daily contour rounds
- Collaborates with multi-disciplinary radiation oncology colleagues to ensure safe and efficient delivery of care
What you'll do
- Following the dose prescription specified by the radiation oncologist, plans a treatment technique and isodose distribution by means of computer and/or manual computations that will deliver a prescribed dose to a defined tumor volume.
- Assist in dose calculations using scientific calculator; enters results in patient's radiotherapy chart; prepares chart for treatment.
- For difficult or non-routine cases, assist radiation therapists with tumor localizations and treatments simulations using either a radiotherapy simulator and prior diagnostic information simulation films.
- Works with the radiation therapist in the implementation of treatment plan (correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangement, and other treatment parameters.
Here is what you'll need
Minimum Required:
- Bachelors Degree
- Less than one year of previous job-related experience
- Completion of the training in Medical Dosimetry involves hands on training in creation of treatment plans
Licensure/Certifications
Required:
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) from the American Heart Association only
