Job Description
Under general supervision, the Sr. Analyst will be responsible for assisting Gas System Operators in maintaining the integrity of the natural gas transmission and distribution system in a safe, reliable and economic manner. This includes maintaining all gas accounting functions to ensure accuracy of delivered supplies for system operations with respective interstate pipelines, Gas Purchasing and Portfolio Planning and Transportation Customers (including electric generation). On behalf of Gas Control coordinate the Daily Morning Meeting between Gas Control and the Company's Energy Management Commodity Procurement and Scheduling Section. Coordinate the various city-gate capacity allocations among the New York Facilities members and third parties delivering gas to the service area. Create daily and ad-hoc reports utilizing Excel and Word. Utilize gas load forecasting models to predict gas demand.The Sr. Analyst will have responsibilities with business continuity planning and procedures as well as participation in corporate and internal drills and exercises.

Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Ensures that appropriate gas schedules are in place to provide sufficient gas supplies to meet service area Transmission and Distribution load requirements and coordinates all intraday changes with Gas Supply/Commodity Operations.
- Represents Gas Control at the daily Gas Supply Morning Call between Gas Control and Gas Supply Purchasing and Scheduling, Commodity Operations and Retail Access.
- Utilizes gas distribution load forecasting analytics and modeling along with weather forecasting services to forecast gas distribution loads daily. Tracks actual versus forecast temperature variances and distribution loads.
- Coordinates with Schedulers from Electric Generation organizations, the allocation of system capacity to ensure system integrity and the proper supply necessary on respective pipelines to maintain adequate transmission pressures while minimizing pipeline imbalances.
- Coordinate identification and distribution of city-gate capacity allocations among the New York Facilities members and third parties delivering gas to the service area in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Perform Analytics on the gas system distribution load with respect to the Climate Change Vulnerability Study and Implementation into our forecasting tracking yearly.
- Participate with Gas Control business continuity plan updating and participate in corporate and internal Table-top Exercises (TTX) and/or drills.
- Tracking performance of Large Scale Outage Key Risk Indicators for Gas Control.
- Determines the effects of any curtailments or restrictions imposed by the delivery pipelines and/or the loss of gas imposed by suppliers in such a way as to minimize the impact on the system.
- Becomes familiar with the cyber security protocols that impact the GCC to help prevent and react to any cyber security breaches maintaining Operational Excellence.
- Provides temperature and Heating Degree Day (HDD) information to Customer Accounting for billing purposes.
- Monitors measurement data to ensure log-sheets are accurate and variations remain below 2%. Where discrepancy exceeds 2%, document follow-up with pipelines or Gas Technical Operations.
- Retrieves electronic measurement data reports from each respective pipelines Electronic Bulletin Board system to ensure accurate check metering.
- Coordinate with Gas Transmission System Planning to resolve metering discrepancies for connected generation resources.
- Maintains all data pertaining to Gas Control Accounting systems and operating reports. Must provide reports and data to internal and external customers when requested.
- Participates in the Companys emergency management processes and storm plans and become familiar with Gas Controls business continuity plans.
- Work Non-traditional hours; the individual will be expected to be capable of a weekly rotation with other Gas Supply Analysts to cover Monday through Friday 7 AM to 10 PM and Saturday 7AM-330PM to cover NAESB Scheduling Cycles as required with a 40-hour work week.
- Performs other related assignments as required.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or related field and 3 years' full-time related work experience.
- Proficient in the use of computer applications, including MS Outlook and MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong Excel skills. Required
- Proficient in Gas Day Operations (GDO), Interstate Pipeline Electronic Bulletin Boards (EBB;s), GasDay Forecasting Analysis and general knowledge of Gas SCADA. Required
- Demonstrate an aptitude for numerical and mathematical accuracy. Required
- Knowledge of the natural gas system (Transmission, Distribution and Supply Market). Required
- Knowledge of department operating guidelines and procedures. Required
- Must be adaptable and flexible to changing conditions. Required
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with customers, support staff, various levels of management and working on a team with other employees. Required
- Work experience in general utility systems (gas, electric, steam, water sewer). Preferred
- Knowledge in natural gas scheduling of deliveries and the nomination and confirmation process in interstate pipeline websites. Preferred
- Related work experience in Gas Control. Preferred
- Knowledge of the CE gas system and assets. Preferred
