Position Information:
The Transitional Studies Instructor collaborates with administrators, staff, school community members, and families to implement Self-Determined Learning Models of Instruction (SDLMI) programs for students. This position supports students with disabilities in building self-determination, setting transition-focused goals, self-regulating goals, creating plans to attain those goals, and evaluating progress on their goals. Additionally, this position mentors students in developing post-school goals, conducting community resource mapping, building key transition skills, and completing critical transition activities aligned with their identified post school goals.
This posting will be utilized to hire two (2) positions.
Shift Details: 8 hours a day; 200 day calendar - 2 furlough days
Non-Continuing Position: This position is non-continuing for the 2024-2025 school year only. Typically, non-continuing assignments fill a variety of temporary vacancies to help the school district meet a short-term work demand. This work assignment expires on the end date of employment and there is no reasonable assurance for work after the end date. An employee's total work hours and the designated beginning and ending times may vary.
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Hourly Rate: $48.50 per hour (2024-2025 Professional - Technical Employee Salary Schedule)

Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in education, special education, behavioral, social or psychological science; and
- Three (3) years of experience with mentoring, counseling, teaching, supporting positive behaviors, and/or providing social services to students in a K-12 setting. *

Licenses/Special Requirements:
- Must have a reliable method of transportation.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License.
