About the Position

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sr. Cost Estimator to provide support on a large-scale (multi-billion dollar), complex construction management program. Big plus if you have experience in rail transit!

This is a long term, full-time, on-site position located in Sacramento, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Develop project and construction estimates, schedules, and costs.
  • Responsible for cost escalation, orders of magnitude, cost of materials, labor rates, etc.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring clear communication of project progress, issues, and solutions.
  • Provide regular project updates to stakeholders, including senior management and clients, highlighting project status, accomplishments, and potential roadblocks.

Skills and Attributes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (e.g., tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.), with the ability to effectively collaborate and interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and supreme attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions under pressure.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • 10+ years' progressively responsible experience in analyzing and estimating costs of design and construction projects.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply project controls (e.g., scheduling, costing, estimating, and reporting) in engineering and construction work.
  • Knowledge of engineering/architecture industry, construction management, and ability to apply it to analyze cost and schedule impacts on detailed project cost estimates and analyses.
  • Significant experience with cost escalation, orders of magnitude, cost of materials, labor rates, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques related to heavy civil rail projects.
  • Knowledge of engineering/construction project management practices and standards, industry forecasts, and economic indicators with the ability to apply them as necessary to ensure that project costs are quantified and priced in accordance with current and forecasted market conditions.
  • Ability to make detailed analyses of data and information and make recommendations.
  • Experience working with government agencies and their processes.
  • Proficiency with industry standard estimating software, e.g., Bluebeam, Primavera, RSMeans, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

Compensation Details

The salary range listed for these roles is $165-197k annually. The final salary offered is based on multiple factors and is thoughtfully aligned with each candidate's level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, etc.
