Position Overview:

The Group Sales Manager at Grand View Lodge is a key leadership role responsible for driving group business and maximizing revenue through strategic sales efforts. This position involves developing and nurturing relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and other key stakeholders to secure group bookings for meetings, conferences, weddings, and other events. The Group Sales Manager will oversee all aspects of the sales process, from prospecting and lead generation to contract negotiation.

Key responsibilities include creating and implementing sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets, working closely with the events and operations teams to ensure seamless event execution, and maintaining strong relationships with clients to encourage repeat business. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the luxury hospitality market, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to manage a sales team effectively.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sales plans to meet group sales goals and drive revenue.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across corporate, association, and social markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, including corporate event planners and third-party planners.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts to ensure profitability while meeting client needs.
  • Collaborate with events and operations teams for seamless event execution.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify business opportunities.
  • Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and presentations for senior management.
  • Manage inventory and maximize lodging and package rates with a focus on ADR and room night consumption.
  • Conduct direct sales efforts, including site visits, meetings, and telephone prospecting, targeting new and returning clients.
  • Attend industry meetings, trade shows, and seminars to stay updated on trends and provide recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Foster a positive and cooperative work environment, leading by example and maintaining professional standards.
  • Ensure seamless internal and external communication and assist other departments as needed.
  • Respond promptly to all correspondence and follow up on leads.
  • Leverage data to generate new leads and document sales success.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing new sales strategies and programs.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all internal and external matters.

Minimum requirements
  • Preferred: Three years of experience in catering, conference/hotel sales, or meeting planning.
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in computer use, with the ability to learn and adapt to new software.
  • Self-motivated, assertive, and outgoing, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to stand and walk for 4 to 5 hours, climb stairs, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, including reaching, bending, tasting, and using a computer.
  • Occasionally required to lift over 50 pounds.
  • Significant travel may be required.
