About the Role
Reporting to the Lead OT Systems & Cybersecurity, the OT (Operational Technology) Cyber Security Specialist is a key member in Technology group to support all engineering activities that contribute to the department objectives in meeting the Company strategy.
Specifically, the OT Cyber Security Specialist is accountable for maintaining the cybersecurity of all control systems (DCS, SIS, IPS/F&G and third-party system) throughout the lifecycle of the plant, by implementing world class best practices for the administration, the surveillance, and the maintenance of the industrial control systems IT infrastructure and by integrating value addition technologies to improve productivity while exceeding the targeted cybersecurity resilience.

About the Role

You will use your expertise to:
During pre-commissioning, commissioning, start up and ramp up:
- Responsible of delivering and implementing the governance frameworks (procedures and work management systems) for the Cyber Security requirements of the entire OT/Control systems fleet, to meet LNGC Process Control Systems Cybersecurity policy requirements.
- Support assurance activities at site, for the commission and handover of OT Cyber Security infrastructure.
- Responsible for defining and implementing strategic cybersecurity initiatives to improve and maintain the Cyber Security posture of OT systems throughout their life cycle.
- Initiate Manage Threat & Opportunity (MTO) & Management Of Change (MOC) with proper risk assessment and mitigation plan for day-to-day operation.
- Provide subject matter expertise on OT Cyber Security and OT system design to projects including architecture, risk assessment, and implementation phases.
- Drive and support the integration of digital solutions into new ways of working, promoting, and delivering a culture of continuous improvement (CI) and future proofing our business with smart solutions.
During OPERATE phase:
- Support Asset team with assurance of fully OT Cyber Security compliance on entire control systems fleet.
- Provide a variety of OT Cyber Security engineering support such design reviews, specifications review/update, studies, incident response, Risk Assessment, etc.
- Provide day to day support for OT Cyber Security infrastructure availability and reliability.
- Perform the periodic reviews of OT Cyber Security controls (users access control, Firewall rules, security event logs, etc.)
- Identify and document noncompliance with OT Cyber Security requirements including long term solutions and alternative mitigation controls.
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations of changes for network and endpoint Cyber Security including method of statements for safe and secure implementation process.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert and as Technical Authority in the area of specialization.
- Provide technical input related to area of expertise to other disciplines.
- Responsible for reviewing the performance of maintenance execution strategies for the sustainment of OT Cyber Security Controls and recommending improvements for cost-effective, compliant, and sustainable OT cyber security program functions as per requirements to support their business objectives.
- Control and supervise the activities undertaken by contractors, consultants, and service providers.
- Guide less experienced engineers in implementing the company integrity and reliability systems.
- Define Competency development plan and mentor Engineers in Training to develop their capabilities and their knowledge.
To be successful, you will have:
- University degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics or Mathematics
- 15+ years' experience implementing and managing IT Cyber Security controls in Oil & Gas OT environment preferred.
- Certified Professional engineer in Cybersecurity
- Strong understanding of international industrial cyber-Cyber Security standards and their applicability (e.g. IEC62443. NIST SP 800-53, ISA-99)
- Experience with Cisco, Fortinet, Active Directory, Antivirus solutions, SolarWinds, SPLUNK, and backup/restore tools is required.
- Strong technical skill and experience in network devices configuration, network architecture, windows security and security solutions applications and use on industrial control systems.
- Good leadership skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization. Work together with/align with other engineering disciplines for supporting operations and maintenance teams.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and ability to relocate temporarily to Kitimat, for the commissioning and early startup phase.
- Maintains a strong relationship & partnership with all organization technical and operational functions.
This role requires that you:
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
- This is cyber security sensitive position. A background check will be carried-out for the past criminal or cyber security activities.
- Live in the beautiful District of Stikine (Kitimat/Terrace). For applicants located outside of the region, this role will result in temporarily relocating to Kitimat, in which accommodations will be provided by LNG Canada. You are encouraged to explore what Kitimat has to offer in terms of lifestyle including schooling, local amenities, outdoor adventure, and housing, to ensure Kitimat is where you would like to call your new home. LNG Canada has a single or family status temporary policy. Given to the short assignment in Kitimat, we are open to discuss extensive travel from Calgary to Kitimat during this period. This will be on case by case basis.
- This temporary assignment in Kitimat will end approximately between July and September end 2025, subject to company discretion.
- During Calgary Work an office-hours schedule, approximately 40 hrs./week, 5 days per week, with flexibility to balance off time hours when required.
- During your time in Kitimat, if temporarily moved to Kitimat: 50 Hrs. per week, 10hr days.
- Additional hours will be required during commissioning & start-up and during, turnaround to support execution.
- Are willing to comply with LNGC's drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
- Know that this role may be expected to be on call on a rotational basis during the year and/or during site specific situations. In Kitimat this duty can be up to one week per month.
- Expectation to start January 7, 2025.
