Position Summary
Responsible for attending to the medication needs of the patients and provide drug information to patients, pharmacists, physicians, nurses and other hospital staff.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (Registered) or
Doctorate of Pharmacy (Clinical)
Licenses and Certification
Illinois license of Pharmacy
(225 ILCS 85/6 - 225 ILCS 85/8; 68 IL ADC 1330.300 - 68 IL ADC 1330.350) States: "An applicant may work as a registered pharmacist for up to 60 days prior to the issuance of a certificate of registration upon receipt of a notice from the Division that the examination was successfully completed."

Technical Experience: N/A
Role Specific Responsibilities
Maintains records, processes and monitors narcotic usage.
Reviews, interprets, and processes provider medication orders.
Prepares IV admixtures and other medications.
Educates staff on medication usage.
Educates patients on medication usage.
Oversees technician staff.
Monitors drug therapy, takes an active role in drug utilization , intervenes on the patients behalf as necessary, including conferring with providers and other caregivers about therapy, and documents those interventions.
Participates in community health related events.
Obtains and maintains competence in pharmacy, including assigned areas and required continuing education
Participates in work assignments at other SIH facilities.
