Ledyard Public Schools is currently seeking an Interim Director of Student Services starting immediately and continuing based on the needs of the district. Ledyard Public Schools is committed to serving every student at the highest level. We are seeking an experienced person as an interim Director to lead the Department of Student Services. The department includes building based administrative leaders as well as dedicated student services secretarial support at each site.
Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Superintendent of Schools, The Interim Director of Student Services is a member of the Executive Team and is responsible for the system-wide operations of all student services-related programming within the district. The individual will oversee special education, speech/language, occupational and physical therapy, school psychology, Medicaid billing, financials for the department, student record keeping, etc. The Interim Director will also provide oversight and direction for the districts SEL and Attendance efforts.

This position is on a per diem basis with a competitive daily rate commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:
- Connecticut Certification Required: 092 - Intermediate Administration or Supervisor and 165 - Special Education, Comprehensive, Grades K-12 or appropriate license.
- Minimum of five years' experience.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Direct knowledge and understanding of the CTSEDS platform.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of special education law and mandates.
- Works and communicates effectively with staff, parents, and students from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information pertaining to students, staff, and district information.
- Management of short/long-term financial projects related to student services.
- Prepares and manages all federal and state entitlement grants pertaining to special education.
- Collects and analyzes all data related to the department and prepares/implements improvement strategies.
- Facilitates professional development (certified and non-certified) and meetings related to special education.
- Ability to evaluate Individualized Education Plans and provide detailed feedback.
- Ensures the compliance of the special education service delivery process for the development of IEPs, annual reviews, and third-year re-evaluations as required by state and federal regulations.
- Ensures the district is in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Represents the district in mediation, administrative hearings, and court proceedings relating to students in need of or receiving special education services.
- Preparations of all state, federal, and local reports as required.
- Additional tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools at their discretion.
Salary:
This position is on a per diem basis with a competitive daily rate commensurate with experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing
- Must be able to lift up to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. at times
