SAIC is seeking an experienced Lead Operational Test (OT) / Developmental Test (DT) Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead the planning, execution, and reporting of OT/DT activities, ensuring that systems are rigorously tested to meet mission-critical requirements. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with government agencies and lead the integration of testing methodologies in a dynamic, defense-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, coordination, and execution of Operational Test (OT) and Developmental Test (DT) plans for complex defense systems.
- Ensure all testing aligns with DoD guidelines and complies with applicable regulations (e.g., DoDI 5000.02).
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including systems engineers, program managers, and government clients, to define test requirements and objectives.
- Oversee the creation and validation of test strategies, test cases, and test data to support OT/DT events.
- Lead integrated test teams (ITTs) and manage all phases of testing, including pre-test planning, test execution, data collection, and post-test analysis.
- Plan and conduct live operational testing in realistic environments that replicate field conditions.
- Develop and manage schedules, resources, and risk management plans for OT/DT activities.
- Analyze test results, evaluate system performance, and provide detailed reporting and recommendations for system improvements and adjustments.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all OT/DT matters, interfacing with government stakeholders, program offices, and test organizations.
- Ensure test plans incorporate cybersecurity, survivability, and reliability evaluations.
- Guide the integration of automated testing where applicable to support rapid system iteration and evaluation.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and deliverables, including Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), and final test reports.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior test engineers and team members.
- Bachelor's degree and 14+ years of relatable experience; Master's and 12+ years.
- US Citizenship and an active DOD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
- Required Experience:
- Extensive experience in leading Operational Test (OT) and Developmental Test (DT) activities in a defense or government environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of the DoD test and evaluation process, including experience with Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP).
- Experience with test execution across multiple domains, including system-of-systems testing, software systems, and hardware platforms.
- Familiarity with operational environments, test ranges, and instrumentation for field tests.
- Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams and interfacing with senior government clients.
- Proven ability to develop risk management strategies, execute test plans, and analyze complex system performance metrics.
- Experience leading live fire testing, combat systems testing, or similar defense-related field testing.
- Proficient in test management and reporting tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, actionable results to senior stakeholders.
- Experience with cybersecurity and electronic warfare testing is a plus.
- Advanced understanding of military operations and testing protocols.
- Experience with DoD Acquisition processes, particularly within the framework of DoDI 5000.02.
- Familiarity with modeling and simulation (M&S) tools to support test planning and evaluation.
- Certifications such as PMP, CSEP, or ITIL are a plus.
