We are looking for a communication manager with outstanding skills and passion for ensuring strong communications services focused on external and internal audiences. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities for client-based communications projects as well as providing corporate communication services to support JBS in achieving organizational goals and strategies. All communication efforts, whether externally or internally focused will assist in shaping organizational culture while maintaining brand integrity and our corporate reputation. This position is a hybrid role that requires the person to work in the North Bethesda office 2-3 days per week.

Essential job functions for client based work:
  • Lead all communication activities and deliverables, including strategic communications plans, evaluation plans and content development
  • Manage day-to-day activities including contractual obligations and budgets; maintain operation of assigned activities and troubleshoot issues
  • Manage the development of outreach materials (e.g., short emails, social media posts, e-blast strategies, website content) for audiences on relevant topics, ensuring accuracy and cultural competency of content
  • Prepare client-ready written materials and meeting summaries that reflect discussions with clients and outline actionable next steps. Maintain tracking of deliverables and timelines.
  • Lead formative research, e.g., focus groups, surveys, etc. to gain insights into audience needs, and preferences; act as facilitator; review data and prepare research reports.
  • Track and report on communications metrics, help execute needs assessments, dissemination and outreach efforts, and other communications program activities.
  • Supervise and guide direct reports in conducting their jobs.

Essential job functions for corporate communications:
  • Manage implementation of the JBS Outreach and Engagement Plan. Collaborate with design, and content teams to produce high-quality output related to these tactics.
  • Oversee the development of content and visuals for social media posts, marketing materials, the corporate website as well as internal communications vehicles. Collaborate with staff from other Centers to ensure accuracy of messages, materials, and alignment with the JBS brand.

Minimum job requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of solid communication experience or Master's degree and 5+ years of solid communication experience
  • Strong management skills; ability to manage complex projects with simultaneous deliverables that involve multiple teams across an organization including tracking and managing budgets
  • Proven experience developing and implementing strategic and measurable communications plans and executing traditional and social media campaigns across all platforms.
  • Experience with large integrated communication campaigns that include paid media, e.g., media and ad buys, sponsored social posts
  • Proven experience developing research and evaluation plans that measure campaign outcome to inform future strategies; Working knowledge of Google analytics, survey methodology and media monitoring tools, e.g., Cision
  • Experience working in a federal contracting environment and proven ability to collaborate with team members and clients effectively and professionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, working knowledge of design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Some knowledge of and experience with behavioral health content preferred, but not required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance (federal government background check).

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit forprolonged periods at a desk or computer workstation.
  • Regularly uses a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Normal or corrected vision to read documents, view computer screens, and perform tasks that require visual accuracy.
  • Ability to hear and understand spoken information in person and over the phone.
  • Minimal lifting and carrying may be required, typically light office supplies or documents.
  • Ability to move within the office environment to access equipment, files, and interact with colleagues.
  • Ability to handle occasional stress related to deadlines, workloads, or challenging tasks.
