Summary/Primary Role:

This role will be responsible for developing various software to support the geothermal development business. We have begun to develop the Brightcore EDGE Platform to support our tech-enabled geothermal services business, and this role will be a leader in the effort to develop the platform further. This role involves full stack development - from designing/implementing UX/UI for different applications, to designing, implementing, and refining machine learning models and other algorithms to predict system outputs and optimize controls. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to renewable energy and sustainability, leveraging advanced algorithms and data-driven insights to drive innovation in geothermal energy solutions, with strong proficiency for front end development as well.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Project Support: Provide technical and administrative support to the Chief Innovation Officer and Geothermal teams in managing ongoing innovation projects.
  • Platform Development: Lead efforts to develop our in-house software, Brightcore EDGE, including driving strategy of developing/selecting software stack.
  • UX/UI Development: Lead efforts to update and build upon current user experience
  • Data Visualization & Reporting: Assist in building and maintaining data catalogs, dashboards, and tools for system monitoring, analysis, and reporting, ensuring key metrics are visible to stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis & Modeling: Support efforts to collect, organize, and analyze data from various geothermal energy sources. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement machine learning models that predict energy production and optimize system performance.
  • Algorithm Development: Support efforts to design and deploy algorithms for system forecasting, monitoring, and control, ensuring the efficient operation of geothermal projects.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the Innovation team on outreach activities, events, and initiatives related to geothermal innovation, both within the U.S. and internationally, including close collaboration with our Stockholm, Sweden office.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing improvement of geothermal development processes and technical communications with internal teams and external partners.
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics, Engineering or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in full stack development, including UX/UI, data analysis, software development, or machine learning preferred.
  • Skilled in Python, JavaScript, Java, SQL, Microsoft Office Suite, Monday.com, CRM software (HubSpot), and data analysis tools required.
  • Experience with Typescript, Node.js, React, and Django preferred.
  • Experience with IoT and MQTT preferred.
  • Experience working on projects in the clean energy space, specifically within the built environment/HVAC/geothermal preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A demonstrated commitment to sustainability and clean energy solutions, particularly within the geothermal energy sector.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

Expected Hours of Work:

An Employee must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours each week to maintain full-time status for benefits purposes, however the expectations of the position will require an average of forty (40) hours with overtime required as scheduled. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining an employee's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity). Brightcore also offers a comprehensive set of benefits to compliment the base salary. The base annual salary range for this position is $120,000-$140,000 and is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.

Travel Requirements:
  • Travel Required up to 10% within the Northeast and attend National events as needed.

Office/Remote Work Guidelines:

Recognizing the success of remote work, Brightcore operates in a hybrid model. Eligible employees will have the option to work remotely for two (2) days per week at their discretion, with final approval by their direct supervisor. This policy is subject to change at Brightcore's discretion.
