LOCATION SUMMARY:

Nestled on the Central California Coast, Adventist Health Sierra Vista has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center. POSITION SUMMARY:

Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and Pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and provide Technician leadership/supervision on a daily basis. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written fashion. Responsible for contacting the physician for clarification of orders, including those where the dosage is outside of the recommended range. Ability to meet the Pharmaceutical care needs of the patients served in this facility (including Cardiac, Oncologic, Neonatal (NICU), Obstetrics, ICU-DOU, Ortho and General Medical). Must demonstrate either through testing or direct observation (preferred) the ability to perform pharmaceutical care needs related to specific age groups (including, but not limited to neonates, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric). Ability to perform "general" computer functions as well as Pharmacy-related computer functions including "order entry," running reports and Pyxis functions.

Education and Work Experience:
  • High School for GED Equivalent: Required
  • Bachelor's Degree, Pharmacy: Required
  • Master's Degree: Required
  • Doctor of Pharmacy: Preferred
  • Graduated from an accredited School of Pharmacy recognized by the California State Board of Pharmacy: Required
  • Desired Training/Education/Experience/Certification: Has a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (preferred).
