The IT Infrastructure Division (ITID) empowers the FBI through an advanced technological backbone of innovative IT tools, world-class service, and secure, reliable connectivity. ITID oversees and supports the FBI's IT systems, networks, and hardware, while also providing devices and software personnel need to connect and collaborate in any situation. The division also vigilantly protects the FBI from digital and physical threats, through access control and credentials like RSA tokens and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards.
ITID personnel are dedicated to ensuring FBI technology is protected, productive, and continuously evolving so personnel can operate effectively and stay ahead of threats. ITID is made up of 21 units and has employees stationed across the nation, with hubs in Clarksburg, West Virginia; Huntsville, Alabama; Pocatello, Idaho; and the National Capital Region (NCR).

EOCU (Huntsville and possibly Washington, DC): The Enterprise Operations Center Unit (EOCU) is the FBI's enterprise IT service desk. Through its call center and online interface, the EOCU provides 24/7/365 support to the workforce. The EOCU resolves common technical issues, manages critical incidents, and supports operational command posts, while ensuring communication between customers and specialized technical teams. The EOCU also receives calls from the American public through its Telephone Operations Center (TOC) and triages them to internal and external resources. The EOCU's Strategic Information Routing Center (SIRC) receives intelligence information from domestic and foreign partners and distributes it to appropriate FBI channels.
IAPO (Huntsville):
The Infrastructure Advisory and Program Office (IAPO) has two teams; IT Construction Team and Enterprise IT Projects Team and provides strategic advice, project planning, oversight, and management for the deployment of enterprise technology in new construction, renovation, and multi-effort Enterprise IT projects. The IAPO ensures all projects are planned, designed, integrated, and delivered with the latest and most advanced technology. The IAPO coordinates and collaborates with multiple stakeholders (internal and external to the division), as well as our Enterprise customers and end user groups.
NEU (Huntsville):
The Network Engineering Unit (NEU) designs, optimizes, and deploys reliable solutions for data transportation within the FBI. To ensure seamless data flow across the enterprise, NEU develops and maintains a resilient network infrastructure. NEU is also responsible for the Network Engineering Redesign Initiative (NERI), which introduces new technologies and modernizes IT within the FBI. NEU also keeps enterprise networks up to date to prevent vulnerabilities in network equipment through the Technical Hardware Operational Refresh (THOR) project.
NMU (Huntsville and possibly Washington, DC):
The Network Management Unit (NMU) is responsible for ensuring the availability of reliable, secure, and protected FBI networks, including UNet, FBINet, SCINet, and BlackNet. To manage system performance and provide effective incident response, NMU monitors network components such as routers, switches, firewalls, encryptors, and load balancers. NMU deploys system upgrades to these devices, ensuring the latest security patches and postures are applied. NMU also provides break-fix support to customers experiencing down devices and login issues.
EISU (Pocatello):
The Enterprise Infrastructure Services Unit (EISU) provides innovative platforms and services in response to the mission requirements of the FBI and its partners worldwide. EISU services include cloud on premises, edge computing, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), enterprise storage, and backup solutions. EISU works closely with industry and technology leaders to apply lessons learned and leverage commercial technological advancements toward the modernization of FBI hardware, software, and management platforms.
DCU (Clarksburg):
The Data Center Unit (DCU) provides data hosting services to FBI and DOJ/OGA customers. DCU also designs, builds, operates, automates, and maintains all new DOJ/FBI data center consolidated networks. Together, these services provide foundational support for all future FBI IT infrastructure. In addition, DCU fully provisions DOJ- and OGA-hosted partners, including full continuity of operations (COOP) and redundancy between both primary Core Enterprise Facility (CEF) locations at Clarksburg and Pocatello. DCU also manages the Threat Screening Center (TSC) data center and a Main Distribution Facility (MDF).
Major Duties
  • Lead, supervise and assist unit personnel who are sourcing, scoping, researching, facilitating, and documenting IT requirements. Ensure stakeholders are being properly engaged, Division leadership appropriately informed via written and oral briefings, and unit personnel adequately sharing the workload.
  • Lead and mentor unit personnel who are assisting customers with technical tasks, including those relating to IT requirements, business process review, and visualizations.
  • Proactively build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders inside and outside the Division.
  • Receive, review, and analyze incoming projects, assignments, and requests.
  • Assign the work taking into consideration factors such as the difficulty of the project, priority of assignment, workload, and capability of the employee.
  • Track the progress and ensure that work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Act as an advisor to Division personnel to aid in evaluating applicable policies, procedures, and other types of received guidance and direction.
  • Draft proposals and plans to address those items and as required oversee the implementation.

Specialized Experience (SE):
GS-14: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
  • Experience leading projects/programs by developing teams, delegating duties, and providing effective communication.
  • Experience assessing customers' needs and resolving issues by providing advice, guidance, and/or instruction to various levels of personnel within an organization regarding administrative and technical matters related to IT programs or services.
  • Experience developing technical and administrative standards and procedures regarding IT issues.
  • Experience planning and coordinating projects that involved multiple stages in the system development life cycle, including: requirements analysis, design, development, test, implementation, monitoring, and continuous maintenance.
