Position Description

Surrey Place is seeking individuals for the position of Psychometrist II. Reporting to the Manager, Adult Services, the Psychometrist will complete psychological assessments with individuals with neurodiversities. This position will assist in identifying the developmental, cognitive and mental health status of these individuals with goals of clarifying diagnosis and/or developing support plans. The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, and under the clinical supervision of a Registered Psychologist.

This position supports work with clients across age ranges at Surrey Place and our partner agencies through our Service for Partners and Organizations Department. Occasional travel outside of the GTA may be requested.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide psychological assessment including administration and interpretation of psychological tests.
  • Complete clinical interviews.
  • Write full psychological reports including recommendations for clients, families and individuals as well as other professional correspondence as required.
  • Recommend or formulate diagnoses as appropriate and in compliance with College of Psychologists guidelines.
  • Provide psychological consultation to clients, families, caregivers, community partners, and other Surrey Place staff.
  • Provide training and education within Surrey Place and in the community.
  • Provide counselling or psychotherapy interventions including formulating and delivering treatment plans as required.
  • Lead therapeutic, wellness, or educational groups as required


Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Psychology or equivalent
  • Completed or near completed a PhD. or Psy.D. in psychology.
  • Are working towards and intend to pursue becoming an autonomous, licensed psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
  • 6 months related experience, and a thorough understanding of psychological test administration
  • Intend to register with the College of Psychologists of Ontario within a specified period.
  • Knowledge of developmental psychology including typical and atypical lifespan development.
  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of psychological assessment techniques and tools for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of statistics related to psychological assessment.
  • Knowledge of clinical interviewing, diagnosis and formulation, consultation, and specialized interventions for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of psychological assessment techniques and tools for individuals with neurodiversities (e.g. WISC-V, WAIS-IV, WIAT-III,ABAS-3, Vineland 3, WRAT-5, WRAML-3, BRIEF-2, NEPSY, WMS-IV etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals with neurodiversities, and participating on an interdisciplinary team an asset
  • The successful candidate must provide an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Screening, and proof of being fully vaccinated for Covid-19.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset
