Position Summary: Oversees and leads assigned team of clinical application specialists to ensure delivery of high quality information technology solutions to meet clinical objectives of the enterprise by performing the following duties through subordinate staff as well as personally. Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis and meet objectives.

Critical Tasks:

  • Staffs, trains and leads a team of EHR, Practice Management and/or Technical Application professionals in support of GRHC's clinical applications.
  • Maximizes the use of EHR, Practice Management or Technical Management of various clinical application including but not limited to Nextgen and Cerner EMR's.
  • Continually improve medical services, outcomes, data accuracy and usability, enterprise operating and financial efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Researches, reviews and implements proven best practices to deliver timely and high-quality services to end users and the patients they serve.
  • Works energetically and productively with end users to meet their user, technical, and enterprise mission requirements.
  • Determines the needs and requirements for clinical applications in patient care and support settings while maintaining fully informed appreciation of patient facing issues, challenges and needs.
  • Maintains close working relationships with physicians, department directors and other staff members to optimize the usage of clinical systems in pursuit of continuous quality improvement and medical outcomes.
  • Plans and schedules levels of support according to product update and release schedules.
  • Communicates with programmers and technicians regarding bugs and follows-up to ensure that all fixes occur, are tested and implemented successfully and with minimal down time.
  • Advises upper management on product development issues arising from product problems identified through technical support calls and information received from end users.
  • Leads projects associated with the evaluation, selection, and implementation of clinical systems to effectively support clinical services in high quality form.
  • Maintains in-depth understanding and leadership regarding clinical work-flows and how to maximize Electronic Health Records adoption and usage while continually building health services quality, enterprise efficiency, and universal understanding of all health data while complying with a regulatory intentions and requirements.
  • Continually ensures that all team members are highly capable, highly motivated, and heavily focused upon exceptional patient care.
  • Maintains a detailed understanding and support of how clinical systems interface with the Electronic Health Records while continually scoping, configuring and sustaining those solutions with patient interests and medical outcomes being a primary focal point.
  • Identify and collaborate with Infrastructure team on application hardware and operating system configurations to ensure optimal application performance.
  • Defines support processes, tools, and ongoing service level measurement metrics and reporting.
  • Monitors and maintains department productivity and budgets.
  • Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, a combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 to 12 years of experience in a health care information technology environment, with 2 or more years in a supervisory role overseeing the work of others.
  • Proven recent experience leading clinical applications on a successful basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
  • Interest in medical subjects, patient services/care, and customer service.
  • Prior medical environment work experience is preferred.
